An Issan-style family dinner is a bargain at $50 - a whole chicken, a little basket of sticky rice (could have been a bit hotter) and a papaya salad, maybe with house-smoked tofu. The chook is triple-cooked: brined in coconut and lemongrass, slow-cooked in coconut stock, then roasted; a little cup of jus is poured on at the table. Some people may baulk at the pinkish hue of the meat and the skin could have been a tad crispier, but it's still a good dish.

Whole barramundi is stuffed with fiery kang som paste, ginger, leek and lemongrass. I did have an excellent chilli-high moment when a bird's-eye exploded in my mouth.

Mr Nice Guy - it's a fun experience and with great service. It's the sort of sequel you hire again and agai

I don't like to be negative on this site, but why is this of interest here? So another cook has learned to use a useless foam, big deal. Might as well be soap bubbles.

$50 for some isaan food......hmmm

That included my fee for singing too. laugh.png .....................whistling.gif

I jest..............smile.png

How much was the fee to shut up.

I was hoping to show that Thai food can be valued elswhere and to both show how lucky people are they can get their 30 baht stuff and to have people indicate good Issan food not cooked in the dust of Issan with the plate washed with the water from the drains and pots scoured with a handful of road sweepings.

Still that is TV I guess.

Regardless of what country your in or the food type, your point is the same the world over. You can pay a little or a lot for the same food type depending on a posh place with A/C or a chair on a footpath. Isaan food is basically very easy to make, that's why it can be done on a footpath, but the risks of delly belly are there too bah.gif .

To me $50 is a lot of dosh unless there are ten seated for local grub. smile.png

@ $50.00 it would wanna come with a few beers and a quickie short time afterwards.

In Issan I am sure that can be aranged.

Yes, and your Isaangirl is NOT coming from isaan but from a very very wealthy Chinese-thai family in the best quarters of Bangkok....

Good luck with that....cheesy.gif
