July 29, 201312 yr or do I have to go to Vientiane? I really don't want to go to Vientiane but I was told that it wasn't possible to process one in Savannakhet?Any info greatly appreciated. My searches suggest it is possible I just want to be sure... Cheers,Angsta::
July 29, 201312 yr Yes, theoretically, you can. My friend got one there. You obviously must have all the correct documentation.
July 29, 201312 yr Author This was originally in the teaching forum. I have been to Vientiane twice for the same purpose. I didn't know if they issues the same visas as Vientiane being a consulate.
July 30, 201312 yr The are both official consulates - visas are issued by Consulate Officers regardless of being located inside our outside of an Embassy building. In the case of Vientiane it is indeed not the same building.
July 30, 201312 yr You can get a Non-B in Sawannakhet easily with all the needed paperwork. If you want a visa to teach please be aware that they also want a document from educational area XX. Apply for it in the morning and pick it up the next day around 2 pm. Good luck!- Edited July 30, 201312 yr by sirchai
July 30, 201312 yr Many thanks, my school is particularly incompetent so we'll see. Many administrators/ headteachers at schools have no idea what documents are needed. You'll need a contract in Thai and English. A TM 47 form for a visa , two photographs, a document from educational area office XXX, where your school belongs to a letter of employment, copies of your degree and other certificates, 1,900 baht and you'll have to stay there one night, as once applied in the morning it takes one day and you can pick your passport with visa up at 1 or 2 pm. the next day. Easy to get there via shuttle bus, over the friendship bridge, into Laos.
July 31, 201312 yr I believe that you will only need a contract in Thai. None of our teachers go with the English contract. If you have both, take both.
July 31, 201312 yr You do not use a TM.47 form for a visa. You use a visa application form for the Consulate and you pay the non immigrant visa fee of 2,000 baht.

July 31, 201312 yr I believe that you will only need a contract in Thai. None of our teachers go with the English contract. If you have both, take both. I guess it's either a Thai contract, or an English contract (or both) then. As our teachers are only issued with an English contract, and haven't had any problems (At least not due to the contract, as far as I'm aware). Although the contract is also backed up with a letter offering employment + the educational service area letter, both of which are in Thai. In the past 12 months, we've had 1 done in Savannaket and another in Vientiane, so I assume that the above would apply in either. Strangely enough, and I don't remember requiring this when I did my initial "B" 2 1/2 years ago, the most recent "B" application was rejected, apparently because they didn't have a photocopy of the director's ID card.
August 3, 201312 yr No, you can't. The only place in Thailand which can do this would be the Immigration HQ at Chaeng Wattana, near the old airport in Bangkok, Don Mueang (where budget airlines like Nok Air and Air Asia fly to). But they are tough - we were turned back due to incomplete paperwork. OTOH, the folks in Vientiane are pretty accommodating. (Get the shuttle bus from the border to the bus station in town for 25 B. And when you walk past the Pizza Company, you will reach LAKO Guesthouse where the normal room with a refrigerator, aircon, TV and wifi costs 500 .
August 3, 201312 yr Here's the application form for Savannakhet.http://www.thaivisa.com/forum/index.php?app=core&module=attach§ion=attach&attach_id=221843
