I have a one way ticket into Thailand I'm applying for a triple entry visa.On the Washington DC application it asks for the "length of stay" what shall I put down someone suggested to write in the space(the duration of the visa) or should I put a actual number that is a couple days shy of the 180 days??? Also the applacation doesn't actually ask for flight numbers and dates.Only the date you will arrive Do all Honary Thai Consulates insist on a itinerary.Something tells me "I ThinK" on my last visa applacation a year ago I just sent the return envelope with the app, pictures, passport and money order to the Honary Thai Consulates. I'm stressing out over this because I called the consulate and she said a oneway is no good . I don't want to get denied .Bare with me please(lol) I have been posting many times about visa requierments in the last 3 months.

The triple-entry tourist does not allow you an uninterrupted stay of 180 days. On each entry made during the validity period of the visa you receive permission to stay for 60 days and you have the option of getting a 30-day extension for each of these stays. I suggest therefore that you write something like "max. 60 days per entry" in the limited space provided on the application form. This will not prevent you from applying for an extension of stay after any entry if you wish to make such application.

A return or onward ticket is asked for at a few embassies and official consulates. Honorary consulates seldom ask for it.

Hi I plan on sending my App in the 8th of August .It more then likely will be stamped the 12th of August when she (consulate) receives it. I purchased a onward flight from BKK to Mae Sot to Yangon Myanmar for Feb 8 2014, just a few days shy of 180 visa stamp.I bought it for 1090.00 BHT.I'll send her a copy of the one way and the onward

( which I don't intend on using) . I'll arrive in Thailand on the 23 of August if all goes to plan and do 60+ 30,60+ 30 60 + 30 .During the time I'm there I'll arrange for a flight back to the states 3 to 4 days before May 12,2014 How's that sound?

Sounds expensive, one way fares are always higher and if you are buying in Thailand you are going to pay even more. You should search for round trip fares paying special attention to the cost of changing your itinerary to determine exactly how much extra a one way ticket will end up costing you for the return

OP: I just dealt with the D.C. Thai Embassy for a tripple entry tourist visa. BIG trouble is, tey put an expiration of Oct 15 2013 when i was arriving at the end of July. Pain in my $&@!! So now I'm kinda screwed on staying as log as I had planned. If you want long stay, do 2 entry.

They wanted round trip ticket, a written letter explaining why I wanted a Triple entry, how long I'll be staying in Thai on each entry, where I'll be going and so on! They also wanted bank account verification. All which had to be signed.

Also, it wasn't even close to 10 days for processing and gettin it back. I was very lucky and got mine back the day before I left for Thai. They waited to ask me for the written letter and bank crap until 1 1/2 weeks after they received it. Then, it took me another week and a half to get it back. Granted, I mailed it from Michigan... But still, it shouldn't have taken that long.

Its not expensive it cost 1600 bht total, for peace of mind .The confusion here about return and onward tickets is and will always be IMOP .weather you deal with a Thai Embassy or a Honary Thai consulate each agency's can have different requirements day by day. Then there's the airlines the same applies to them .I can't understand why some people in this forum don't get it. Some are bent on a visa doesn't need a onward or return ticket.. When in fact some agencies keep on demanding and there the one's who make up the rules.

Remember that if you leave and return to Thailand the same day to activate an entry on your tourist visa, you will in effect not have 180 days. The day you leave will be the same day as entering, so it would be a day less for each time.

I already sent it in .I got a onward ticket on the 180th day. I don't plan on using it. So if the Honorary is a checking it out and reading into it .It would show that I'm overstaying by 2 days. right?

I don't think they would count it that close and deny your visa.

The 180 days start on the date the visa is issued not when you enter the country.

Did you send it to the Thai Embassy in Washington? If so, their policy (per website) is for only 3 months validity, even for triple entry tourist visas.

Portland does not require an itinerary or onward ticket for US citizens. And, they used to advertise 6-month validity for triple entry tourist visas. However, I see that is no longer advertised on their website -- only a boldfaced 'visa must be used within 90 days of issue.' Now, as a blanket statement, that's wrong, as they do issue multi-entry non imm visas -- and they're valid for one year, not 90 days. I guess Mary Wheeler at Portland could clarify -- but she's on vacation until Aug 19th.

Anyway, you've already mailed it -- to somewhere (?). Will be curious to see what you get back.....as the recent Thai policy seems to discourage 6-month tourist visas (although I see the LA consulate website still advertises 6-month tourist visas). Hmmm.

From the requirements listed for a tourist visa on the website of the Thai embassy in Washington DC:

4) A copy of round-trip ticket or itinerary

It would be unreasonable to require "Evidence of travel from Thailand (air ticket paid in full)", as the website of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs does, before the visa is issued. The embassy in Washington DC obviously recognises this and accepts an itinerary as an alternative.
