Where's Chiang Mai international customs house to pick up parcel?

A notice from the post office was waiting for me in this afternoon's mail. It says [in Thai] that I am to pick up an expected parcel at the international custom's house at the Chiang Mai airport. Assume that it is in or near the international arrival's area. Can anyone confirm exact location, as I googled and a map came up with a totally different location.

Thanks in advance.............

I can only relay my recent experience.

When a notice was left for me by the postal

My package came from a company in the USA

It was not at the post office nearest me ( Changklan Road ) but at the main? one over on

402 Charoen Muang Rd You know cross Narawat going away from the moat & continue on?

Then it is on the left near a Shell Station

Anyway the customs window is the one before you go in the main building on the left near the PO Boxes.

I made the mistake of going in & waiting for my Queue number then was taken to a warehouse in the back

only to be told Oooooh you need to go to that window up front smile.png

They figured the custom charge at about 27-30%

EDIT: Sorry re-read your post

Since yours said airport it may be the main customs office here?

That is the one I have always had to go to as well.

I realize this may not be very helpful but there is a customs building next to Immigration. Don't know if that is what you are looking for or not. We have received literally hundreds and hundreds of packages over the years from all over the world and only been hit for tax perhaps 3 times; payable at the P.O. (one time we had to go the P.O. on Charoen Muang that another poster mentioned and sign an official document and pay the tax there after they opened and searched a box in Bangkok.

Thanks guys.....I printed the map and see that it is on the Doi Suthep side of the airport. Approach from the canal road???

Why don't they make it easy by printing location info or address on the form?? TIT!!

Retrieving my parcel was quite a wild goose chase beginning with the wrong location on the map provided. It turns out that the customs bureau is the next building [building 3] from the main terminal, where Thai Airlines cargo is, but the corner nearest the main terminal. Luckily I had my Thai wife with me as there is hardly any English speakers.

It took more than an hour and a half to process and filling out forms and going up and down to a few other offices. The electronic items, backup battery, cables and plugs were not an issue but the spices and herbal supplements were confusing to them and we had to get special clearance from the food and drug office. Ended up paying 770thb.....a figure that they just picked out of the sky, I'm sure because they didn't have a clue about the contents.

Lesson learned, have a friend or relative re send items to you via regular USPS priority mail.......not express mail. Do not use those reshipping companies as the total extra cost was 2X what I would have paid a relative and the Thai post always delivers unopened, no questions asked. [knock on wood]

Sorry about that map as I have never been there.

I often find the maps as you said are a "bit off" especially the street views.

So your package did not have a declared value? Usually they use that x roughly 30% for charges.

What you say about USPS Priority is true if sent by a non commercial sender.

But if the package has any logos they go thru it & charge as they did mine between

27-30% Mine was sent USPS Priority Air mail

Where I said it was?

The [true] declared value of contents was $162 and the 'duty' was only 780thb. That makes the rate around 15%. Actually the duties were less as some of the costs were VAT and processing fees. Great rate, but still a pain in the arse dealing with the Thai bureaucracy.
