Foreigner working illegally - how do I report to Immigration?

Featured Replies

I was at a party recently, and this drunk Western man (I won't name the country) was bragging about how much money he was making from his business. He then went on to say that he didn't even have a work permit - he's here on a tourist visa!

How do I report him to Thai Immigration anonomously?

Is there an online place to do this?

This wasn't some little fish teaching English for 200bt an hour under the table. This was an arrogant man flaunting his disrespect and greed. Disgusting - especially after he said he made about 100,000 baht a month from his illegal business (girly-bar owner) and didn't even pay taxes.

A pimp and a cheat.

Definately illegal and definately a creep, and I don't mind reporting him

Say what you like - I am not breaking any laws, and I am comfortable with my ethics...

Why don't you mind your own business...

totster :)

They will get him at some stage if he is as bad as you say.

Much as I object to the kind of people you describe especially since I've made the effort, spent the time, money and pay considerable taxes keeping myself legal. I find your eagerness to report him even more objectionable. As an earlier poster said. Mind your own business.

nothing illegal about owning a business that makes money. now, if he is dancing that is an entirely different story.

I think the point being made here is:

Having an ownership interest in some company in Thailand that operates a money-making business doesn't, in and of itself, require a work permit AFAIK.

On the other hand, being the manager of a bar or having some other active role in a business would require a work permit.

But either way, as everyone else here has suggested, best to leave enforcement of Thai labor and immigration laws to the Thais.

This is correct. Whether he owns 0.01% of the total shares or 49% (the maximum he can hold), he does not need a work permit for that. A lot of foreigners own shares in Thai companies, mostly bought on the stock market.

The single biggest problem in communication is the illusion that it has taken place

We have a saying in Yorkshire UK...

Hear all, see all, say nowt...

If your Thai then maybe you would want to grass up the falang, if your not keep your beak out, some things have a nasty habit of coming back and biting you on the bum....

Sounds like a bit of jealousy to me...

I agree with your assumption.

Why would he need a work permit for owning a business? Many people own parts of businesses (they are called share holders!). Work Permits are for people that are working - owning something isn't working. Actually being a police informant is more in line with the Thai legal definition of work, so you may need a WP to be a grass! :)

Besides, this is an obvious troll OP anyway.

Is that Manura or Maruna ?

I think Maruna had been using Mara---Ju--ana when posting the OP so anything is possible...thumbsup.gif

I think the OP is a troll. Anyone living here knows who to report him to. Just an OP with nothing better to do.

let's hope someone else does not get blamed for your actions. make sure you take responsibly for making the report.

Did you discuss your problems with this man face to face?

No. That would involve having a pair.

He can sit here all night drinking telling everyone it's his bar as long as he doesn't do anything himself ,then take the money home nothing anyone can do .

Key to it is letting the staff do all the work and look like a customer

I know lots of people who have been doing it for years .

Mind ya own business is my advice to u .

I would be more interested in how he does it, as I would like to also. Except for the bragging part.

Flame removed.

I think you should mind your own business. Thai immigration is well competent enough to deal with all that it needs to.
