KRABI: -- A pyrotechnic meth-dealer announcing full stocks of ya bah (methamphetamine) pills with firecrackers had his bubble burst by Krabi police yesterday.

Following a tip-off, Krabi City Police raided a shack in the middle of a rubber plantation and found Songpol Nakbutr, 34, selling ya bah pills to two customers.

Mr Songpol got the pills from a prisoner in Nakhon Sri Thammarat, Superintendent of Krabi City Police Tuksin Phochakorn said.

“Mr Songpol said the prisoner called his phone and told him where the drugs would be dropped off. He didn’t know the prisoner’s name, and the phone number used to contact him didn’t show up on his mobile,” Col Tuksin said.

“Mr Songpol said that he picked up about about 2,000 pills per time, and sold them for 250 to 300 baht a pill,” he said. “Once he picked up a fresh batch of drugs, Mr Songpol would set off firecrackers to let his customers know that he had drugs to sell.”

Mr Songpol was able to carry on his business in this fashion for about two months without the police finding out.

“We found 2,178 ya bah pills in the shack, and five pills on his customers, Sopon Kerdsook, 27, and Somsak Petcharak, 47.

“We charged Mr Songpol with possession of a Category 1 Drug with intent to sell, and his two customers with possession of a Category 1 Drug. All three suspects accepted the charges,” Col Tuksin said.

Police intend to question Mr Songpol further and investigate who supplied him with the pills.

Phuket Police encountered a similar case last week, when they arrested a drug dealer who said he bought drugs via a man also incarcerated in Nakhon Sri Thammarat prison

Hmmm,maybe the dealer arrested them...clap2.gif

A great way to cover your dealer

I get call every day from non existing numbers and people I don't know, but they want to sell Iphone5 or something but not ice

LA street gangs usually fire up their auto weapons for sale in the gang wars. Got so i could tell what weapon and load was fired.

Don't listen to the sirens, even the ancient Greeks knew they were trouble! ;-)

One thing that astonishes me is the extremely high price of yaba. 300bt is equal to a days pay at minimum wage.

Translate that to the UK or USA and the price works out at £50/$58 PER TABLET!!

Normally when an addictive drug is flooding the market the price drops so more punters can be drawn in. In the case of yaba, exactly the opposite has happened and the price has increased dramatically and the quality reduced (which often increases sales - more needed to get the effect). At bulk production rates, the cost of making a single tab is probably less than 5bt which means a colossal mark up being collected by somebody.

I'm sure that this stuff is not used exclusively by the well paid so the first obvious question is :

How do users afford to buy? Its not going to be by working and its unlikely to be as a result of wise stock exchange investment.

and secondly :

Where does the money from the huge mark up go? Not to the front line dealers like the one in this story.

With an estimated 1.1m addicts in Thailand, assuming just one tablet a day means a market value of over 300m Bt per day or 11 billion a year. Where is all this money coming from???

300 bht = 58$? Try again.

He means, 300b is day wage in Thailand and $58 is day wage in obamaland.

You missed it, wise one.

Theft, ripping off naive tourists, borrowing or stealing money from their family members, prostitution, money laundering and human trafficking - pick your favourite!

Thank you so much for the exalted title! Now when the rest of the TV members realize this I will finally have reached light-a-mint. NO?
