Dan198703
Any tips? How much will it cost? What should I bring? Also is there a less busy boarder I could go to? Thanks
ubonjoe
What do you want? A new visa or just crossing to use an entry of visa? Or a 15 day visa exempt entry? Edited August 25, 2013 by ubonjoe

ericthai
Where are you? There a options but it all depends where you are. In Bangkok and Pattaya and I believe Phuket there are visa run companies. I don't know what there exact costs are but usually around 1500 to 2200 baht somewhere around there since you just are going to cross. Other option is rent a car and drive yourself this will be more expensive than a visa run company. Last option take regular buses to the boarder. This will take allot longer than a visa run company as you will have delays for stops along the way to pick people up and drop off. Depending where you are coming from bus change may be necessary. Also when you are finished at the boarder you will need to wait around for a bus heading out. You will also need to arrange the visa for Cambodia yourself. The visa company will handle this for you. So all depends on how adventures you are.
wcoast
I'm in a similar situation as the OP. I'm Canadian. All I need is a 15day stamp as my Thai 60day visa and its 30day extension are expiring at the end of the month. I changed my flight and I need 10 days. I was considering taking a minibus to the Soi Dao area and walking out of Thailand and walking back in and get my stamp. A couple questions... Do I actually need a Cambodian visa, can I just get a Cambodian stamp? I heard a Cambodian visa cost either $20US or 1000thb. Which is true for the border idea? I know about the 2000baht run from Ekkamai but I might like to hangout in Soi Dao for a day or two. I'm trying to save money. Comments tips suggestions welcome. Thx
wayned
You need to enter Cambodia, so you will need the visa. You can enter and turn around and come back immediately, but you will need the visa and the Cambodian stamp in your passport.
Dan198703
Ok I have my own car I was going to drive south of bangkok and use a ' less busy' boarder crossing, get my visa on arrival then turn around and come back? Does that sound viable?
Mario2008
You will get a visa exempt entry, i suspecpt. But yes. Simply go to the border, enter another country and return to Thailand will earn you 15 days. If you do it by air you get 30 days. (All dependend on your nationality). Does that sound viable? Bear in mind that the visa officials see their position as a "business" and may seek to charge more than the official rate of $20. At my nearest border point I understand that the going rate is circa 1,200 Baht for such 'visa run'.

Does that sound viable?I do this from Bangkok about every 7 months. I found that it is less hassle to go with a company than to drive myself. Google thaivisarun. The cost is about 1900 baht, all in. It takes about 8 hours, and you can buy a little duty free. Crossing is in ban laem. I did it at times myself driving. Cost much more and is a long drive. Also border is more hassle. Bring passport copy and two photos for Cambodia.Sent from my GT-I9100 using Thaivisa Connect Thailand mobile app

Does that sound viable? south of bangkok, its a long ways to the border with Burma that u can exit (Ranong about 6 hours driving) until they update the border at Prachup Khiri khan Closest border is Ban Pakard (Pailin Cambodia) 1st head to Chantaburi and then turn north to Pong Nam Ron on rt 317 than turn right to the border. I just crossed over there last month, sees very little traffic as most head to Aran an Poi Pet. takes about 2 1/2 hours from Pattaya, from bangkok maybe another 30 minutes ( depending on where u are in Bangkok ) as u take the expressway to Chonburi than 344 east till it hits 3 to Chantaburi Not much there but there are a few casinos and its only another 90 minutes or so to Battambang Leave ur car at the thai side an walk down to the Cambodian side, ( 4 min or so) stamp in an have lunch at the casino than head back to Thailand Closer than Trat/had lek ( Koh Kong) ( about 5 hours) Passport/ + 1 photo for Cambodian visa $20 Edited August 26, 2013 by phuketrichard

If you secure your visa at a Cambodian Consulate beforehand, it is $20. If not, at the border they told me 1200 baht, with pictures. I said "I brought pictures". He said "Okay, 1000 baht".
