EyesWideOpen
What good are submarines during a coup? Haha nice one. Tanks seem to be the preferred weapon to make the general population cower in fear during a coup. However the army seems to have sufficient tanks to easily perform a coup, and tanks have a long life. Perhaps if they bought a shallow draft submarine that could come up the Chao Phraya river, they could shell demonstrators ??

Basil B
Did they not also have an aircraft carrier with no airplanes...
smoochy
It's a aircraft "carrier" not launcher so perhaps they just put one or two on with a crane for naming purposes. Kerryd
As well, they could have more in the future as well: Submarine procurement - In April 2011, Royal Thai Navy allocated up to 7.7 billion baht for the purpose of acquiring six used and modernized Type 206 A submarines from the German Navy. However, an approval from cabinet was still pending when parliament was dissolved in May 2011.
