Sore body

Featured Replies

My wife and her mother are always complaining about having a "sore body" I get Anadin tablets sent from the UK and they say they help a lot. But it is expensive to keep getting them sent from the UK. Does anyone know if the exact same as Anadin is available in Thailand? Or could I get an Anadin tablet analysed by a pharmacist in Thailand?

There are several Anadin products, many of which can be gotten here in locally made form. Which one are they using?

Thanks Sheryl, it is the original Anadin tablets for headaches etc, But there is now one for back and muscle pain, I have just sent away for that and I will see how that goes.

Anadin - nothing special but expensive for what it is !

It is not expensive in the UK, you can buy it in the Pound shops. But I have to say I do not have that many headaches myself, but Anadin is better for headaches than I can get here in Thailand.

The original Anadin is aspirin plus caffeine. You can easily buy locally made aspirin but not an aspirin + caffeine mix. However taking aspirin along with a cup of coffee, tea or cola should achieve the same thing. Be aware that aspirin is potentially irritating to the stomach, only take with food.

The Anadin for joints is ust ibuprofen which is readily available here in locally made brands.

Thanks Sheryl, I will try a Pharmacist for Ibuprofen.

In my case, regular aspirin or paracetamol with a couple cups of coffee does *not* quell my semi-annual headaches like the "migraine strength" tablets that I buy in the USA and Singapore which list the ingredients as acetaminophen and caffeine.

The only things I have found that quell (mask?) my headache pain are: codeine, tramal, aspirin/paracetamol + caffeine.

I guess it could be psychological, but that's odd, because I *want* the aspirin + coffee dose to work.

I wonder why the analgesics with caffeine are not sold in Thailand.

There are migraine preparations containing caffeine sold in Thailand, but they are all mixtures of ergotamine and caffeine, not aspirin or para + caffeine. Ergotamine's side effects can be quiet nasty (nausea/vomiting etc) in some people.

Just how much caffeine is in the remedy you get elsewhere? Could always try aspirin or para plus "Red Bull" or Lipo votan D if it is a matter of needing a greater dose.

I have once bought a kg of caffeine powder back in the Netherlands I still have most of it and I make caffeine tablets. 200mg a piece, i have found they work well for certain muscle problems (had a neck that was locked for a while).

Point is everyone can order caffeine and with some special scales you can take whatever you want.

In general I do try to keep away from the cafeine.

The Walgreens "Aspirin Free Tension Headache" bottle says each caplet contains 500 mg acetaminophen and 65 mg caffeine.

The Mayo Clinic web site says generic instant coffee (which is what I drink on the rare occasion I want coffee) contains "27-173 mg." Wonderful. Is it 27mg or 173mg or ... ? It says a 16 oz Starbucks Latte has 150mg, so maybe next time I'll head to Starbucks and see if it works, since I have no idea how much caffeine is in the instant coffee I drink.

Due to that frickin' cop-killing brat heir I would rather not purchase any Red Bull. angry.gif

I just remembered I tried Coke Zero with Tylenol, too, and just found this on the UK Coca Cola web site:

"People often think our drinks contain high amounts of caffeine, but in fact there is only 96mg of caffeine in one litre of Coke Zero or Coca‑Cola and 128mg in a litre of Diet Coke. This equates to about 32mg in a 330ml can of Coca‑Cola and 42mg in a 330ml can of Diet Coke."

Interesting. I definitely did not drink four cans of Diet Zero, so that's perhaps why I still had my headache.

Lipovitan D has 50 mg caffeine.

Not at all advisable to consume often but as an occasional HA remedy in combo with aspirin or para, OK. (Except obviously nto for a HA at night, since you'll not sleep).

Red Bull is I think 75 mg.
