Hi All - I taught in Thailand for 4 years with no problems with the Thai police. I am currently in the US, but now I have a Drinking and Driving on my record (Class B Misdemeanor) The last thread on this topic was in 2012, and as we all know things change quickly with schools, immigration, consulates, the MOE, Dept of Labor, etc.

In 2013, Has anyone been able to get a letter from a Thai Police department that was acceptable by the school necessary to obtain the Non-Immigrant B? I am hopeful this would work once I return to Thailand since my record is in the US is now tarnished.

The employees that we have been sending for non-immigrant B visas in Laos have not been required to produce a police clearance. I believe the regulations state that they are required to have one, but it is my understanding they have not been asking for the document for some time now.

Perhaps others can shed more light on this.

When I initially applied for my Non-Immigrant B as a teacher, the Auckland Consulate + Vientiane Consulate listed that a police clearance was required "if asked for". The impression that I got from it, was that if you looked dodgey, or the consulate officer woke up on the wrong side of the bed, they might ask you for it, but that it generally wasn't required.

I'd say get it, keep it with you but don't include it in your paperwork, just keep it in a folder ready to be produced if they ask for it.
