phrakeaw
I'm looking for know a competent person , with who we can discuss of the problems for simple people for obtain a good visa and know how to make the process. Im a disabled person with a problem of behind my back. I'm a man from Switzerland, 43 years old who can speak well thai already and I stay in thailand for 3 years before and I like it and now I would like to return there coz I feel well and the climate is nice for my condition. I'm also alone without a family and not much support, why I come here to find the best deal and going until the goal. I hope I can find a nice person who can answer on my request. Ladies and gentlemen,Thank u for your advice about this topic.
tingtong
as a single person your options seem to be limited... probably leaving you with tourist visa and education visa, the later being the better. while you say you can speak thai already, i am sure some casual learning would worth the trouble since you could stay pretty easily on the ED visa longer term, vs. on tourist visa. phrakeaw
yes but me what I want is a person can find the best coz in your message I cant understand well, only about tourist visa but isn't the best too. But again i think is only looking about money, no much more to welcome. Im not a danger, for Thailand and really respectful. I looking for my health condition too. My goal isn't to work there or profit but well for my wellness, how we can then?I don't know if I explain well there?!

lopburi3
The visa forum is used for questions about staying in Thailand (on visas and extensions of stay and even permanent residency or citizenship). You appear to be asking exactly that. And the answer for most in your position being under age 50 would be an ED visa stay for study of something. The only other alternative would be tourist and visa exempt entry. There are temporary extensions of stay for medical reasons if you can not travel but that does not appear to be your situation. The more information you can provide the better people can respond.
Sceptict11
As already said, being a person under 50 yrs of age your options for staying in Thailand are limited. Your only choices would seem to lay between a tourist visa or an ED (education) visa. As a matter of interest how did you manage to stay for 3 years previously ? phrakeaw
@lopburi3, I heard about when u have 50 years old but u need to have an account with 800'000 baht inside for the guarantee, so Im not rich enough for have this amount or I need to more saving and can take long more if I'm young retired man. @Sceptict11, I have an alive pension then this amount I can manage enough as well in Thailand , without make excess things of course, but I can do manage it. Lite Beer
It makes no difference how much money you have. You need to qualify for a Visa/Extension. All you qualify for are Tourist Visas or Education Visas if you study in Thailand.
phrakeaw
@lite beer, yes I can start with tourist visa but after I need also to go out every month then can cost me much there, flight ticket and hotel and for the time I stay out before come back. It's can be hard then without know what process I need to have and do. The amount i can have per month is about 50'000 baht and more a bit and also depend of the exchange. Sceptict11
"@Sceptict11, I have an alive pension then this amount I can manage enough as well in Thailand , without make excess things of course, but I can do manage it." You misunderstand. I was not asking about your "pension" (finances) I was asking about what visa(s) you used to stay in Thailand for 3 years . lopburi3
Believe you are thinking of visa exempt entry for 30 day stay - a tourist visa would allow a 60 day stay and then for 1,900 baht be extended at immigration for 30 more days before an exit of the country required. If I remember and understand well. As I thought. There is no option for you. At your age and being single your only choice is a Tourist Visa or an ED(education) visa. There are no other "long stay" options available for you. edit spelling Edited September 7, 2013 by Sceptict11

Sceptict11
I wonder what part of Switzerland you live in. Have you spoken to your doctor or social worker about your difficulties? Your problems may not be improved ( and could become worse) by moving to Thailand where there is no "free" medical or social support available to foreigners. I lived in thailand already I really feel better than in switzerland , that for sure i know by my experience I know your beautiful city ! I would urge you to think very carefully before coming to Thailand again. You will not be able to secure health insurance against a pre existing condition (bad back) and you would have to find suitable accommodation which may not be easy. Whilst your income would enable you to live a "simple" life you must also remember the cost of any medical care/medication you may need. In addition you would have the constant need to be aware of your visa status. As has already been said you would not qualify for anything other than a tourist or possibly an ED(education) visa. Sceptict11
Phronesis
1. Visit Soi 6 at Pattaya. 2. Select a wife and take her for a bridal examination at the Hospital. 3. Marry her (if she tests negative to HIV. If positive, discard her and repeat steps 1. and 2.) 4. Obtain an O visa. 5. Live happily ever after in paradise.

baboon
A sarcastic post but yes, there is no long stay visa available which focus just on 43 year old Swiss citizens with back problems. Please read the good advice you have already been given and not just wait to be told what you want to hear.
Maestro
Maintaining his residence status in Switzerland phrakeaw can remain insured under the compulsory Swiss health insurance requirement and thus would be covered for emergency treatment outside Switzerland. Sceptict11
Maintaining his residence status in Switzerland phrakeaw can remain insured under the compulsory Swiss health insurance requirement and thus would be covered for emergency treatment outside Switzerland. I hope that is a well researched piece of advice. As far as I an aware the basic, compulsory Swiss insurance provides minimal cover within Switzerland and Western Europe only! I , of course , am willing to be corrected ( refs. please in English !)
