Popular Post jimbobs1
I see alot of posts slagging fat ugly farangs, who have no dress sense, with good looking younger women, WHY is that a shock? We had all heard about Thailands red light scene before we came, its probably the most famous things about LOS, my ex wives remind me of this fact every time we have the misfortune to bump into each other I came to Los with a gang of me mates and brothers to get drunk, get a women and have a laugh. There seems to be an awful lot of people on here who forgot why they came here, or dont want to admit the fact. Yes there is a rich culture here, but there is in many places on earth why did you stay here? BECAUSE THE MAJORITY MET A WOMAN/ OR MAN WHO WAS OUT OF HIS LEAGUE IN THE REAL WORLD. It would be stupid to say every man came here for that reason, but i suspect the majority did, I met my wife in a bar and the majority if not all of my expat mates did, so where is the stigma? Its a part of the felang / Thai culture here , stop pretending it isnt
Soutpeel
Although I applaud you for your honesty, can,t see this thread lasting very long But to answer your question, came here originally to work and guess the lady aspect was an added bonus, would I have come to Thailand just on the basis of the ladies, if the money wasn't right on the job, ie accepted less money just because it was Thailand ? Not on your life Edited September 13, 2013 by Soutpeel
Popular Post seajae
hahahahaha, mate, I never came for the women, I came over here originally for the frangipani as that is my business and Thailand has some of the best in the world. All my mates were telling me to enjoy the ladies but I didnt particularly want to take anything extra home so I simply ignored them until I accidentally met my future wife(not in a bar, I am not a drinker), she is also a frangipani enthusiast(and very close to my age & not out of my league) so we hit it off and I just kept coming back to spend time with her then we married and I moved over here to live with her & grow/work with my plants. There are some of us that didnt come here to play hide the sausage with all the ladies or to get on the piss, we have met our partners/wives but not in the usaul way(bar), I suppose this means we can still hang sh*t if we want too Edited September 13, 2013 by seajae

If one has the skills, knowledge experience etc they are looking for there are jobs in Thailand for farangs that pay more that western world, and these jobs are not restricted to senior management type jobs either, I came here originally on a short term basis to look after one specific job, they must have like what they seen, got asked if I wanted to stay, and almost 13 years on still here, the job will end in the foreseeable future due to nationalization , I would say next 3 to 5 years, but can't complain, been longer than I ever expected, so must be doing something right

Tim207
When in junior high, my Social Studies teacher (female) took a trip to Thailand and used her vacation pics as a teaching opportunity. Years later in a Guatemalan jungle an older gentleman mentioned that Thailand was a good place to hang out, which brought to mind the pictures taken by my teacher that I had enjoyed years before. After enduring a couple of mid-western winters I decided to skip one and spend the season wandering around Thailand. I have been hiding from the winter every year since. Sorry I don't fit your mold. My mid-western upbringing instilled in me the idea that prostitutes are generally dirty pathetic junkies. The idea of sleeping with one was disgusting, flying half way around the world to see them never entered my thought process. Thailand has greatly changed my views about prostitutes but that certainly doesn't effect my mindset at the time or my reasons for coming originally. I still don't understand flying to the other side of the world to chase prostitutes but my opinion of them has moderated considerably.

I would love a job here I think you will find most of the jobs, certainly in the business I am in are not even advertised, it's typically word of mouth some knowing someone, of course you have to have the required credentials they are looking for, that's originally how I ended up here, they were looking for some who knew a specific part of the job, some already working here, knew someone who knew me, I was working in the US at the time, they give a call and asked if interested, and seeing as Thailand hadn't been a place I had ever worked before, thought why not ? Give it shot and see how it pans out, even at worst something else to put on the CV

razorramone
Money and a paid-for masters degree. There are women everywhere. Thai girls are nothing special, not ugly not stunning. Although I don't know why you are so interested in whether other people here also use prostitution... JLCrab
I had worked in Asia for many years, was vacationing in Thailand, and on a Thai domestic flight started a conversation with a Thai person who, as it turned out, was the founder of a large NGO in Thailand under Royal Patronage of HM The King and, before we hit the arrival gate, I was working for him. I made four extended trips to Thailand for the NGO before deciding to move here full time almost 10 years ago.

Popular Post lemoncake
12 or so years ago, it looked like a really easy place to make money and a fun place to live. Over the years I learned the hard way, it is not an easy place to make money and fun is no longer as fun as use to be. But after a decade it is a home, kind of love/hate relationship.

I have done some research, and based on context, I suspect you meant "offensive". I didn't find it offensive on your behalf however. So it's all OK. Popular Post Suradit69
the OP is utter twaddle, when will people learn that as much as they would like it to be, their experience is not universal. "I met my wife in a bar and the majority if not all of my expat mates did, so where is the stigma?" "their experience is not universal." For his wife's sake, I hope not. I suppose if someone is feeling a little unsure of himself and what's motivated his behavior, he wants to hear that lots of other people acted the same way and for the same reasons... and he would choose his "expat mates" to surround himself with like-minded "thinkers." Nothing wrong with that. If you're happy and not hurting anyone else, enjoy yourself. Worrying what other people think of you is a waste of energy. No matter what you do, 99.9% of the world won't care and your dog will love you anyway. I expect most people who chose to stay in Thailand took into consideration more than just one objective, although considering how many posters on TV seem to be constantly throwing hissy fits about everything in Thailand, maybe they never found the elusive "happy ending."
