BANGKOK, 17 September 2013 (NNT) – Chairman of Fukuoka Association of Corporate Executives and his entourage have paid Prime Minister Yingluck Shinawatra a visit, during which the Thai Premier thanked them for their cooperation in the government’s infrastructure project. She also congratulated Japan for its success in winning the right to host the Olympics 2020.

PM Yingluck yesterday welcomed Mr. Susumu Ishihara, Chairman of Fukuoka Association of Corporate Executives, and his entourage upon their arrival at the Government House, during which Miss Yingluck expressed her gratitude for Japan’s cooperation with Thailand, especially in the high-speed train project. She also congratulated Japan for seeing off rivals Madrid and Istanbul to win the vote to host the Olympics and Paralympics in 2020; the race which Japan won by 60 votes to 36 in the final round of voting by the International Olympic Committee.

In return, Mr. Ishihara praised Thailand for its stability in economic growth and quick economic recovery after the disastrous flood hit the country 2 years ago. In terms of tourism industry, around 1,300,000 Japanese tourists visited Thailand last year, as Thailand was one of the top tourist attractions among Japanese, he said.

Furthermore, Mr. Ishihara told the Thai Premier that he was grateful for Miss Yingluck’s visit to Kyushu last year, while inviting her to go back to Kyushu for a ride on its new rail route dubbed "Seven Stars in Kyushu"; which will be officially opened on October 15th. Miss Yingluck is scheduled to pay Japan another visit during December 12-14 to participate in the upcoming ASEAN-Japan Summit.
