GM and Chrysler only avoided going broke because of a government bailout, Harley-Davidson did go broke and had to sell twice, and they are doing fine.

Chrysler didn't get bailed out by the government anywhere near the extent of GM as they were bought into by FIAT.

In 1998?

In 1998?

Or 1979?

.... anyway, does anyone have any real-world knowledge of how Ford's 2.2 engine performance compares to Isuzu's 2.5?

is the Izuzu 2.5 the same as the Colorado 2.5 ?.......... if yes then it is grossly under powered going by the seat of the pants as that is what Iam currently driving and it is pathetic compared to the 2.2 Ranger.

I believe they are the same. It's just my luck that you have 1st hand knowledge with that engine, too! Since the Isuzu 3.0L just clears my personal preference 'Performance-bar', I had automatically assumed that I wouldn't be satisfied with any smaller sized engine for the large-sized SUVs - PUs that I prefer.

With your experience driving an Isuzu 2.5 in a PU, why have you chose to go with the 2.2 as opposed with the Ford 3.2? I, too, drove (an older) Toyota 2.2 in a Mighty-X for a while and it, too, was woefully under powered IMHO.

Can only get the 3.2 in the Wild Track and it is automatic only and I feel is it over priced for the extra gimmicks it has, it also has too many doors (not to mention no manual gearbox).

The 2.2 Manual gets along ok for my application.

I gotcha'!

That's one of the very few overall 'downsides' that we have to endure here in LOS: Its car market! There is a dreadful lack of imagination and selection. Price and gimmicks I can deal with as part of the territory but when you can't, won't, at the very least sell a vehicle with the customer's transmission of choice, then you know you aren't dealing with Prime Time players .... IMHO, of course!

In the previous generation yes - most were using the 120HP version of the Isuzu 2.5L.

In the current generation no. Depending on model, the DMax uses either a 120HP or 143HP version of their 2.5L (as used in the previous generation). The Colorado/TB use new 2.5L 150HP VM Motori designed "Duramax" engines - with no roots to the Isuzu lump.

The last I heard, the 3.2L Wildtrak had been discontinued in TH - only 2.2L Rangers are available now.

Still making them just ordering has been placed on hold to my knowledge....

Makes sense kills all the headaches for the dealerswhistling.gif can always re-introduce it as a run out model to boost saleswink.png
