Hi everyone.

I've been living in Thailand for a decade now. Have a Thai wife and an 8-year old rascal. I'm almost 50 and I worry what will become of my family if I pop off, as we have little money, no property, etc. Went back to the UK last year and called several insurance companies about life insurance and they all said that they couldn't insure me because I no longer live in the UK.

Basically, what are my options?

Cheers and all the best

There are many options for Expats but with any financial transaction do please read the small print - not all policies are the same. We can offer very competitive rates but these will be based off shore i.e. Singapore, HK etc. This is because the rates within Thailand - governed by the OIC - are fixed and tend to be far more expensive.

For any quote please go to the web page HERE

I haven't lived in Australia for 13 years and I got life insurance through William Russell. Isn't that a UK company?

I'll check that out. Basically I was told that they wouldn't insure me, even though I'm a British citizen, because I no longer live in the UK.

Cheers

Thanks. I got a very resonable quote from W.Russel. Just one question before I sing up. Do you think they can be trusted to pay up once I'm vertical? Cheers.

Probably not, but how will that be your problem?

It's cheap because it's annually renewable and the cost increases incrementally with your age.

It is NOT term life assurance.

If you are a Brit in Thailand, there are a few options available to you.

I had no issue getting term life insurance from Friends Provident (fixed premium for the life of the policy).

It's pure life insurance mind, no surrender value, just in case I pop my clogs before the house is totally paid for.

Hi Crossy, how did you take this out with Friends Provident? I had my financial advisor approach them in the UK (they don't deal directly with the public for Life Insurance) and they said I need to speak to one of their reps in SE Asia if I'm living here.

Any info would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks.

Via my IFA in Thailand, PM me if you want his details to contact him.

He does NOT bite or rip people off (yes, I know, he's an IFA, one step down from Estate Agents [ and they are below amoeba]).
