Free treatment at Govt.hospital with yellow book, changes.

I have been receiving free treatment and medicines for nearly 2 years

now at my local Government hospital, before anyone denounces the

Government hospitals, the one I attend gives very good service, the

Doctors,Nurses are all very friendly ,helpful and caring.

On the 1st October a new law came into effect ,whereby the free treatment

was withdrawn and you now have to pay a yearly fee of Bht 2800, which is

still very good value, and with my BUPA cover due to end in a couple of years,

the Government scheme will at least give me some kind of back up. (BUPA and

some of these other health providers, unless you have been with them forever,

withdraw cover when you reach 70,just at the time you could need it the most)

If you have a Yellow Book, you may also be eligible to get medical cover,by

paying the Bht 2800 fee, just check out your local Government hospital, they

have a leaflet on the new scheme (in Thai),it depends what numbers are on

your Yellow Book.

Hi Jbrain, Unfortunately my wife has given the leaflet away to a friend,

its something like 000000051********* if your number on Yellow Book

begins with a 5 , which mine does, so I am ok, but if its 56 (not sure)

you still get for free, if it does not begin with a 5 then you cannot do.

sorry without the leaflet thats the best I can remember, but if you have

a Yellow Book, take it to your local Government hospital and they will

advise you if you are eligible or not.

I am not sure ,but wonder if this is going to be Government policy where

all Farangs have to have health cover, they where mulling the idea, who

knows what changes they come up with.

regards Worgeordie
