BANGKOK: -- A former muay Thai competitor Anant Prompreut, 55, has been found dead in his apartment in Bangkok's Rat Burana district.

Police visited the apartment building in Suksawat Soi 52 on Sunday after receiving reports of a foul smell coming from one of the rooms.

The victim had been dead for at least three days.

Police believe the victim was strangled with a phone charger cord after being hit with a Buddha statue found near the body.

His 16-year-old stepson told police that Anant had been a boxer who fought under the name Rungdet Chommahakap.

Must of got bonked first - don't have a charger here that would do the trick......

Murder charges to be filed against unknown assailants for death of former hard charger (muay thai boxer) in death by charger cord.....the cell phone with battery was found to be dead as well.....police have ruled out assault with battery as motive.....
