BB bank, ACH, and the 2 penny test deposits

I have a Bangkok Bank savings acct in Chiang Mai and USA bank acct. Requested US bank to include BB on my list of acceptor banks. But to do so, first US bank tests the connection by sending 2 small deposits (under US$1) to the BB bank. US bank has done this but now BB in CM has told me 'one or two weeks' to see deposits. 2 Weeks for electronic money? I cannot move any money here until i confirm the penny amounts send to the BB, so am slowly going broke. Is this the normal condition or am i missing something?

If you have online access to your USA bank account, take a look at the link above.

I use the same system to transfer money from the UK. I just transfer the money online from my UK account to the Bangkok Bank in London, giving my Bangkok Bank Thailand account number as a reference.

The money appears in my Thai account max 2 days later (usually the next day). I can choose to transfer the money in GBP or THB.

Cost for me is around 15 GBP - but I see that the USA charges are much lower.

You might be able to get around this "test" deposit requirement with your US bank by telling them that you do not have signature authority over the Bangkok Bank account.

USAA Savings Bank asks this question when trying to add another account for EFTS transfers: If you can only make deposits to this account then they don't require the verification system you are describing

Do you have signature authority on the account?

Yes. I can make deposits and withdrawals with this account.

No. I can only make deposits to this account.
