From Buriram I have stopped at Pitsanaluk. I believe I went to Korat then 201 and ontoroute 11. Google directions will help.

Contact Thai Visa member Kwaibah - he regularly travels Kap Choeng (Surin) to Chiang Mai but he does it in one go.

If you follow Google directions, dont take the 24 from Surin but take the 226 (Buriram - Korat (Nakon ratchasima) ) instead. The 24 is very damaged and there is a lot less traffic on the 226. Uttaradit is a nice place to stop and to buy fruit.

this is the another option. i just want to avoid 2 lanes.

I dont know what your intention is , the road beween KK and Phitsanulok passes through two national parks , each time a scenic 2 lane road so dont count on an average of more than 40 km/h there. The other half of the distance is ok and they were converting most straights to 4 lane last time I past there a few months ago.

It took me about 6 hours to cover the 320 km (including short lunch break)... and I am not a slow driver ... and the road was dry .

Just mist your last post, yes I would recommend the second option, certainly under current weather conditions. Maybe take the KK option on the way back ?
