Not much reviews of the T5 2.0l version of V40 out there. But i found this:

Compared to the 2.0-litre turbo in my Scirocco, there is a touch more lag — the Scirocco’s turbo kicks in at just over 2000 rpm while the V40’s kicks in around 2800 rpm. However, while the Scirocco feels out of puff by 4000-4500 rpm, the V40’s power band extends much further up the rev range.

Out on the road, there isn’t much between the V40 and the Scirocco upto 120 kph. Above 120 kph however, the V40 easily leaves the Scirocco behind. The noise the 5-cylinder makes is nicer than any 4-cylinder. It sounds more like a V6 with a refined snarl to it — it was thoroughly enjoyable to rev the engine out just to hear the noise as the car accelerated.

Agree that real world perf betw Roc 2.0 and V40 not much difference. But disagree that V40 sounds better than Roc above 120km/hr onwards. I think the engine noise and DSG fart from the Roc is nicer.

according to a sales guy, my14 has a different gear shift indicator(???) and is prepared for a rear camera (accessory)

Hmmm....minor difference. But if same price for MY2013 and MY2014, then get the newer version.

Have you decide to go for the V40 now?My GF wants us to buy a SUV and i want a fun car which she just shake her head at.

Looked at MUX and looks great but VERY cheap plastic interior. CRV also looks great but i don't like the interior. I liked a Range Rovers interior till i saw the price tag at 3.7M and got out of the car quickly. GF thinks the V40 looks bland. She could live with a white fake cross country though.

I sat in at least 20 cars at the motor show last Friday but only BMW, Volvo, Range Rover and Merc felt right. I would go for the CLA250 ant time if it wasn't for the long delivery time. I could live with an A250 if V40 wasn't around for 600k less. But in the other hand, the V40 might lose the extra 600k then it is time to resale it.

Another thing that i noticed. You could easy see the different brands popularity among Thais by looking how crowded the different brands exhibition stands were, Toyota, Honda and Ford?!? were the crowdiest followed by Chevy, Nissan, Merc and BMW. Proton, SS, Audi, Peugeot, Citroen and Volvo were all EMPTY.

I see. Thanks for sharing your considerations and observations. Honda and Toyota are hot favourites. But they do not excite me. I have a 2009 Honda Jazz and not much has change for the Honda models. I wanted to buy the V40. Was told by Volvo Thailand there is warranty plus for all Volvo models till 31 Dec. But when I contacted the shops, they said no warranty plus for V40. So now I am trying to negotiate but am not successful to date. I can continue to wait as I think if the protests continue, it could affect consumerism and maybe they will throw in the warranty plus....still hoping.

Existing warranty is 3 years or 100000km. Warranty plus adds 2 more years. So it becomes 5 years or 100000km.
