My Thai wife and I are living in Uk. I'm Irish and she has an EEA family permit. She doesn't want to apply for residence card in Uk as we're only staying here for a year. Can she enter a schengen country without a visa? We're living in Kent and we just want to go for a short trip to France. Her EEA family permit is Multiple entry and valid until Jan 09...

Also, she is still resident in Ireland until Feb 06. If she needs a schengen visa can she get it here in Uk OR does she need to apply in Dublin. We're confused and the complete lack of info regarding EEA permits on immigration sites is startling..Thanks....

Unless she has a residence card as the spouse of an EEA national, she will need a Schengen visa to enter the Schengen area.

As the spouse of an EEA national this should be simple to obtain and free; provided she is travelling with or to join you.

She should apply to the embassy of the country which is her main destination or, if touring, the country she will enter first.

If living in Kent, she should apply in the UK.
