Hi All,

I am aware that the following questions have in some form been answered in other posts, but after reading through them am still a bit unsure, so any advice would be appreciated! My mum is currently here on a non immigrant O multi entry visa. She has done her last border run for the year, but I messed up the dates, so have not organized for her to have the money in her bank here in time for applying for an extension of stay based on retirement (800,000฿).....bother!! So... What is the best option? Is it possible to apply for a single entry non o in savannakhet or somewhere else close? Or does she need to go back to aus to apply for another non imm o (single or multi)? Or any other suggests ( tourist visa from somewhere? Then alter to non immi o in bkk?) she has the money, just not the time to let the money season.

Any suggestions would be appreciated!

Thanks in advance

Thanks, she did her last border run beginning of sept, so only has 1 mth left meaning she doesn't fit into the 60 days for the first extension.

Did she do the very last border run just before her visa expired? If her visa is still valid she could do another 90 day entry.

Also it might be possible for her to do an extension based upon your own extension if you have one as your dependent with no financial proof. If you have an extension what is it based upon?

Does she have any income/pension that can be used for an Embassy letter? That normally allows use of both income and bank deposit with no seasoning required.

Pretty sure she is already on her last 90 days as her visa says it finishes oct. (totally made a mistake with timings this time!). Mine is based on marriage, so not sure if that helps at all? What would I need to look at to see if she can qualify as a dependent?

That would be good if she could do it with income / pension, but no, not yet, so she needs to do it solely based on lump sum in the bank :(

Your extension is one of only a few that does not allow for a dependent extension.

Unless she has some income to do with money in the bank is to go out for a single entry non-o visa or do a border run and immediately do a conversion to a non immigrant visa entry by showing the money in the bank at immigration.

If she does a border run, she would come back in with a 30 day visa exemption is that right? And if so, when she comes back in can she go to immigration in chiang mai and get it changed to a single non o and extend based on money in the bank? Or does she need to do the change over to non o in bkk and then extend it in chiang mai toward the end of 90 days?

Thanks so much for the advice - haven't had anything to do with retirement visas / extensions before!

No !

A " visa run" via a land border only secures a 15 day visa exempt entry.

Maybe better to think about flying out and back which would secure a 30 day visa exempt entry or applying for a tourist or Non "O" visa in a nearby country.

Getting an "O" visa would avoid the need for "Conversion" and give time for the financials to be put in place.
