Hi xsmile.png.pagespeed.ic.4tUibSscbZ.webp

I am moving with my family for 3 month to Bangkok for learning Thai.

Our Thai school is located in Chidlom Rd. Patumwam Distric

We are looking for an aprox 80 sq apartment that is located very close to the BLT root or the underground.

The place shouldn't be more then 30 min from the school.

Our budget is 20-25k

In which district should we look?

Any tips?

Thank you for your help wai2.gif

You may wish to invest in some English lessons too,as it is widely used by BLT users..

If you are on company paid rent allowance there are agents and long to short term lets from 2000-2,000.000 bahts.

You will find few 80 square metre appartments and those there are are in nice condos with pool gym shops,I think these will be more costly.

However if you feel comfortable there are smaller 50/60m2 units with lounge kitchens and mini bathrooms and bedrooms as small as 10-15m2.

You do not explain age size of family.

The BLT is a sandwich .

I assume you mean the BTS also known as the skytrain this is indeed a boon as is the eqaully useful MRT subway if you plan to avoid traffic jams and hot taxis.

I depends on your requirements, suggest book a hotel around Sukhumvit the further down the sois ( A soi is a side alley running of the main street ,although some like Thonglor are huge) the quieter and sometimes lower rents.

My pick would be the top of soi 13 as you can catch the ferry into the city along Klong San Seeb walk to Airport link in 15 minutes and Nana. The area between there and Asoke is safe ,dull and has on street parking and even some homes with gardens.

There are areas around Silom and Ploenchit but these will stretch your budget.

Wongwian Yai and Aree areas are good value on skytrain if you don't need many western amenities.

On arrival invest $4 in an all day train pass and visit as many stops as you like,Although aircon and cheap the trains can be very crowded and do not run 24 hours.

Good luck in addition to the local press,Craigslist there are numerous agents who advertise in the press and online.

Woops, I knew I got something wrong...

Anyway, thank you for your kind advice, I will definitely look into the areas you suggested. By the way, at which hours would you suggest to avoid the BTS and MRT?

My family consists my wife our baby daughter and myself.

Cheers!
