November 9, 201312 yr I mean macbook pros and the airbooks. Do they get damaged easily and stuff like that? Since they are apple products you know the design is rather top notch and if you see the reviews and rankings of macbooks or airbooks they rank pretty highly compared to other lappys and ultrabooks from brands. If you're used to windows interface just use bootcamp to install windows on it. I have win 8 on my macbook and i use it more often than the Mac OS. Back to original question do you think these apple products are pretty durable and tough and not easily damaged?
November 10, 201312 yr I have had both MacBooks and Macbook Airs. I don't think their aluminium casings are any tougher than some of the other manufacturers plastic or poly carbonate cases. Sure, they might not show up all the finger marks like a black plastic case, but drop one, and it will dent, whereas a plastic case might absorb the impact. I know, as I dropped an iPad from about 6" high onto its corner. Deformed the aluminium. If you take care of them, don't drop them or throw them about, MacBooks are no more or no less durable than other manufacturers products. Saying that, if you are looking for something tougher, maybe look at a "Toughbook", or buy a protective case. One other thing. If you buy from Apple, I have found their customer service to be excellent. e.g. Yesterday, I booked an appointment at a "Genius Bar" in one of their stores, and took my year old iPhone 5 back, as the power button was playing up. They said "easier to just change it", and gave me a new phone.
November 10, 201312 yr I bought a MacBook in 2006 and four months ago put a new hard drive in it and upgraded to Snow Leopard for a back up machine. It is an old war horse at this point but still very reliable with lots of cracks and a faded display. I use it run my home security system often.
November 10, 201312 yr They are durable to scuffs and scratches but I wouldn't be dropping them or anything like that.
November 10, 201312 yr I have two Macbooks. An original one and another one that I ordered from China out of curiosity. The original shits on its Chinese counterpart in terms of performance but I swear the fake one is more durable.
November 10, 201312 yr The MacBook Air has a solid state hard drive which means no damage to hard drive when dropped even if the rest of the computer is destroyed. So no loss of information. Definitely a big plus.
November 12, 201312 yr My 2 year old MBP has been dropped and dented (airport security at bkk, idiots!), been dented by stuff dropped on it(heavy books fell from a shelf) and the screen was impacted hard enough to bend the lid when my youngest son stood on it while it sat on the sofa. Bent the lid back to straight and it's unaffected, everything still functions perfectly. Overall I rate all pale products (phones, iPads and MBPs) very highly for build quality and strength. Sent from my iPad using Thaivisa Connect Thailand
November 12, 201312 yr My Macbook will still drive a 16 penny galvanized common nail into a doug fir 2X4. Then I check my email. circa 2008 That is why they are no longer manufactured, they are just too durable.
December 1, 201312 yr . They are not welcoming to any liquids. I've had both a Pro and an Air act up due to only a very few drops of water spilled on the trac pad
