A Filipino couple I know want to bring their two daughters (3 & 7 years old) to live with them in Thailand. They are teachers with WPs and Non "B" visas and want to do this by the book if possible.

The requirements are confusing them, do they need to show 250,000 baht in the bank or can they obtain dependency visas, Non "O", as they are both working here?

Are the rules flexible on this type of visa or should the parents bring them in on a tourist visa and just let them overstay as they aren't planning on sending them to a Thai school?

Any help and sensible advice and knowledge will be greatly appreciated by them. Thanks in advance.

B visas would not allow - are you sure they are not on one year extensions of stay from immigration?

Yes, they're on one year extensions of stay "B" visas. Why would that affect the possibility of of their children not being able to get a visa to stay with their parents?

There is no extension or visa that has a 250k baht requirement. Where did you get that number?

If they are on extensions of stay children could get dependent extensions. But children would need single entry non-o visas to get the extension.

Sorry Ubon, the 250k number is something they were told by someone who they know.

So they should get copies of letters from their respective schools and all the other required paperwork for Non "O" visas and get a single entry in Manila when they go back to see their children?

If they do get the "O"s, then they take their daughters to Immigration for their extensions I take it?

PS. I just gave them an update and they feel a million times less stressed than an hour ago. wai2.gif

They should only need copies of their passport photo page and extension of stay stamp plus children's birth certificates to get the visas. But it would be best to contact the embassy to confirm their requirements.

Mr Ubonjoe, you're a star and thank you for all your help.

I'll pass all your info onto the couple and get them to inquire at the embassy well in advance.

Thank you, thank and thank you once again.
