This snake was killed near a friend of mines house. The Thai building contractors on site chopped it up on sight. Can anyone Identify this snake?

concur mate cos you know these damn snakes are building their nests going into human territory, eating up human food, being terrified of these humans when they actually go into the human's territory and then somehow killing these humans all cos these humans try to defend themselves.

9 out of 10 lethal snakebites are bitten children, i do not like killing snakes either but all snakes that come in to village are killed venomous or not, even a non venomous snake bite could be dangerous since they have a very strong and alien bacterial flora in mouth. A problem is rat and mouse building nests inside houses, baby rodents are gourmet dinner for snakes. Killed snakes are eaten, i have tried it, tastes like chicken but so does many things i have heard.

We only killed browns in Australia as they attacked rather than shied away plus they were savage buggers, actually had a diamond python living under my place that kept the rats and mice to a minimum, he had full run of the place, he even ate the occasional chook when he ran out of rodents. Here I refuse to take chances, they come into our yard they are fair game, especially the poisonous ones and any tree snakes that drop on mums head, hahahahahaha

From the pictures I would say this is a Blue Krait. They are not very aggressive but their bite is deadly. One of my dogs insisted on playing with one and die shortly after getting bite.

Actually, they will be eating the snake for dinner. The contractors that worked on a project next to my house also ate any frogs they caught.

I have been thinking about this many times and maybe if it is a small one but.... How do you keep your cool when a drain pipe size cobra has sunken his teeth in your neck?

Let's make one thing clear; the reason people die from snake bites is because some snakes inject venom. There are two major types of venom: neurotoxic venoms and heamotoxic venoms, plus a small number of other disgusting venoms including venoms that breaks down tissue (necrotising venoms). The venom is the reason people die. Nothing else.

Just to set the record straight; studies show that the peak age group of snakebite deaths is 15-29 years (25% of all deaths is within this age group). Only 7% of deaths is within the age group 2-15 years (Sawai Y, Honma M (1976) Snake bites in India.) Edited November 15, 2013 by Forethat
