For cultural reasons do thai woman prefer older guys,same age or is it that age is not an issue with them at all.

Trying to think what to add to ensure I don't offend,all I can say is whoever is with who is no problem to me,just curious.

Culture is one thing, but it doesn't affect everything like some kind of blanket that's been thrown over the whole population. As I'm sure you're aware, it doesn't do that in your home country either.

If there are individual Thai women out there who claim to be looking for an 'older man', I am confident that in 99% of cases that would be based on the perception that an older man may be a better provider : at 55, I dont have a problem with that either way.

I would say they prefer a similar age, but this preference isn't as strong as in the West and can be overlooked for other qualities.

I asked my wife about this one when we first met, years ago. She was straight up and said that older farlang men provide security (money) and they don't play around - as much, as younger Thai men. She is 20 years younger and we are still happily together. Neither of us has ever wanted to play around, and I'm not wealthy. Significantly, we were both working O/S when we met - I think that makes a huge difference to expectations about a relationship with a Thai woman.

Good post. At first I was really run off by the statement "want man to take care" because I took it to be money grubbing or at the least, one sided. It wasn't until I heard much more of Thais speaking English but with their sentence structure that I understood that they usually meant "take care of each other."

But to this senior citizen, there are some mighty fine and classy 40 year old divorced Thai women, or who otherwise might meet some "discard" criteria and I enjoy the heck out of them. Take each person as an individual, and there are some fine ones.

I'm from Chicago and my first wife was from Texas. Her family tried to kill me the first time we met because I was a Yankee. I certainly don't think Thais are alone in marrying for money.

People are all unique, have different tastes, thoughts, moods, feelings etc. Finding the right partner is very hard, as the divorce rates show.

It is a necessity, needs, wants prioritization with family duty thrown into the mix. First they satisfy the necessity, then the needs, then the wants.... so what they want is not necessarily what they choose since there are other issues to be sorted out first.

They settle for older men if it helps put a roof and feed their family. If they don't need that then they will go for what they really want, which is typically someone they can communicate with and closer in age - and interests in common. As Thailand gets richer, there will be less need for women to settle for someone they aren't really interested in for duty. People say what they think you want to hear, not necessarily the truth.... and desperate men wanting to believe that, repeat it like it is the gospel. When she says "thai men no good, prefer [fat/ugly/balding/tatooed] farang [who does not know how to dress respectfully]" she is settling on needs not on what she wants (in almost all the cases).

Do you have an any actual social research to support your posit ? Or is it just your opinion.

No problem with anyone's opinions, providing they themselves realize the difference between their opinion and a fact.

My experience, based on living in several countries and three continents is that Asian (not specifically Thai, but also Indian, Chinese, Pinays, and many Arabs) do seem to prefer older men. From conversations with men and women in these countries, it seems the reasons are that the ladies feel the older man will be more secure, loyal, family orientated and less chance of being unfaithful, gambling, boozing etc. They want the security they believe maturity brings, and associate age with wisdom. They also think older men will offer more financial stability and provide better opportunities for the children. I have not researched anything to support this, or carried out my own research. It's simply an opinion based on my experiences.

The age differences seem to be more pronounced in Asia than in Europe. I know several highly educated, independent, reasonably well off single ladies in Thailand, from 27 to 37 years old. All always have or look for husbands/steady relationships around the 35 to 50 age bracket. I don't know one that has or seeks younger men.

Mr. Worldwide said it right. The answer is yes, because it is more likely you will give them money. However, even Thai women who are not specifically part of the "sex industry" are often on the game, just more on a long term plan.
