just_Elaine
Is Tanin Market and Siri Wattana Market one and the same? Was there a name change? I just looked at a google map and could not find Tanin.
WinnieTheKhwai
Tanin is the colloquial name. They're the same place. Same applies to other markets and lots of temples. Few local people for example say 'Talad Warorot' / Talad Lamyai for example. It's all Kad Luang.

Popular Post Microwave
Yes, Kad Thanin and Sri Wattana market are the same. As an earlier poster mentioned, Kad Thanin is the spoken/colloquial name for this excellent market. The mountain range of which Doi Suthep is a part of is called the "Thanin Range" of mountains. Thus the derivation and use of "Thanin".
