Cleaning A Bulldogs Face

Featured Replies

My English Bulldogs face is white one side tan the other.

His eyes are always a bit gunky due mainly to the tiny little black flies that seem to be about at the moment.

Even though I clean his face regulary the white side of his face is stained .Any ideas on what the best way to remove it?

Thanks

Kurgen check out this website.

The author refers mainly to Maltese, but obviously it would work with any dog.

One thing the author highly recommends is to treat the cause of the excessive tearing that causes staining and suggests it could be just more than gnats. Check it out very informative!

Thanks sbk, that's a very informative link.

I have always been told not to shampoo a dogs face but on that link he clearly mentions using flea shampoo on a dogs face, who is right ?

i used non alcohol baby wipes on my wrinkly boxer's face and wrinkles (his wrinkles got gooky stuff in them all the time), and cornflour (corn starch) or baby powder (non perumed, no talc) in the wrinkles; the running eyes... could be in turned eyelash, some breeds suffer from this... also poodle siites may have some tear stain control/removal ideas... u might try using saline eye drops (the ear/eye/nose drops that are mild saline only for babies) in eyes to keep 'stuff' out of them...

Missed that part, , I've never put flea anything on my dogs faces! I couldn't say who is right, but I wouldn't do it.

Cheers bina , I just went and bought some baby wipes. :o

I did once use a wet towel with a bit of Dettol on it.

I don't think Buster was to keen on the smell because he ran straigh out into the garden and rubbed his face into the ground for ages.

He came back looking like one of the black and white minstrels :D

Dettol is probably way too strong for not only his eyes but his nose as well. Dogs have a far keener sense of smell than us poor noseless humans, so the Dettol must have been really awful.

I did dilute it :o

i use the hypoallergenic aloe vera baby wipes , not every day... dont kmow what that dettol stuff is but if it has a smell, dont use it

check out the inturned eyelash thing : forgot what its called in medical terminology but if i recall, bulldogs boxers etc (squshy faced dogs) get this problem...
