webfact
Protesters black out National Police OfficeBANGKOK: -- Anti-Thaksin regime demonstrators late this afternoon besieged the National Police Office and demanded all the police working inside to leave the office by 6 p.m. today.Protesters threatened to black out the office if the police did not meet their demand. But by 2.30 p.m. the police inside the office have reported of electricity black-lout and they were trying to find out whether it was the work of the protesters or just a normal electrical short-circuit.However the General Police Hospitals which is also inside the complex of the National Police Office was not affected. Doctors reported normal operation of the hospital.Several hundreds of demonstrators are still gathering in front of the National Police Office, awaiting the police to leave their complex.Source: http://englishnews.thaipbs.or.th/protesters-black-national-police-office/-- Thai PBS 2013-11-28
Popular Post Thaddeus
Not sure how accurate that is yet - and I guess it could be said that he wouldn't have if the demonstrators hadn't been there. I am sure at the end of the day there will be 3 dozen explanations of what happened to him (but it certainly looks like a wire cut - so could be some credence in that). Should have worn a helmet.

MaxYakov
No electricity, eh? Maybe they should switch to emergency electricity - tasers. No use of force then probably no law enforcement. I don't have a dog in this fight, but it strikes me as a little strange that the sister of deposed Thaksin was even considered for public office. Andre0720
''It was unclear how police would respond to the provocative move. But so far they have avoided confrontation with the demonstrators, and the government appears reluctant to call on soldiers to strengthen security.'' Well, they could always check the procedure followed in my country in such circumstances...... And requisition all the ambulances and doctors nearby.... thhMan
Not much different to gang warfare, except one gang was voted in by the public. So this leaves the Public at risk while bullies fight for the turf!
thaigold
Let me see if I've got this right. One group ( a minority) closes the international airport and occupies Government House for weeks - nobody goes to jail The other group rallies in the streets and people get killed - and several of the targets are tried and jailed. Now, just imagine a disaffected political group in the U.S. taking over the halls of Congress and closing Los Angeles Airport (LAX). Well, we all know that answer to that one don't we?

Muhendis
Protesters cut electricity at Police HQ, patients at Police General Hospital affected; Police chief bars protesters entering premises /MCOT The demonstrators tried to get in the hospital? Try reading the smaller writing beyond the headline. "But just hours later the demonstrators cut off the electricity supply to the national police headquarters in Bangkok, a senior officer said. "Now we are running on a generator," Police Lieutenant General Prawut Thavornsiri told AFP, as about 1,000 protesters gathered outside. The move also hit the forensic department of a hospital next door although the main facility was unaffected, the hospital director said." Headlines rarely relate to the facts unless the "patients" were in to mortuary.
dunque
Its already been confirmed by the hospital director that power to the main hospital was not cut - a forensic lab had its power cut and is running on generators - but not the main hospital. They also have generators ready. A policeman was slightly hurt, cut forehead; looks like he cut his head on the razor wire while trying to deflect the cutting of the cables - not details on that yet other than pictures of his cut eyebrow. He cut himself on their own razor wire? So not at all the demonstrators fault, right? So, if he was trying to prevent demonstrators cutting cables and got caught on some razor wire it is whose fault precisely? His? The wire's ? Or perhaps it I the people committing or attempting to commit a criminl act?
Popular Post khunken
While not being a fan of Suthep I have got to hand it to him for the strategy of the protestors. No violence but target the ministries & the police headquarters (as well as the DSI, now a quasi-ministry). It rather gives the impression of a government who are clueless about how to handle the protests let alone run the country. It'll die down next week with HM's birthday celebration approaching but severe damage has been done to the government's credibility which they have brought upon themselves following their two recent major blunders. Not accepting the CC's verdict was close to anarchy and Suthep has only taken that anarchy to the streets. It also should be pointed out that it is not only Suthep's group that are involved. Chamlong's Dhamma army and student groups have been co-ordinating with Suthep and doing their own bit to make a difference. It might be too far to suggest a Thai Spring but it has the parallel in attempting to rid the country of a dynasty, headed up by a wanna-be dictator. It won't succeed this time but has given notice that any more attempts to pass self-serving laws will be fought again in the streets.

Popular Post aaacorp
The comments here are always funny cause the people who support the Yellow ones would certainly not appreciate the same in their own country. So now the yellow want to get rid of democracy (even if we all know that every side is corrupted) and the democrats which was not able to win a single election and need the back up of the army are the "good ones" ? If the democrats wanted to be in charge maybe they should have take care of the voters instead of complaining afterwards.

You are being intentionally over simplistic - you know as well as us (and hence it shows the irrelevance of your post) that the demonstrators are not "Yellows", they are a mix of people - including Reds. There have been many reports of Reds joining the demonstration (even after taking money to go to the stadium). You attempt to make it plainly "must be yellows against the government" fails easily. Also the Dems are not running it - an ex Dem (quit so as not to bring his party along with his own personal decision) is the self-appointed leader - but even that was well after the show had started. Being against this government does not make people "yellow" it simply makes them "not PTP".
