hi. on Wednesday CAT will install a 20MB fiberoptic at my house with a wifi router.my question is: can I also install my own router Linksys together with the router from CAT and run my computers on 1 wifi and and use the 2nd one 4 others in our compound like doing a split

thanks in advance Lungpeter

sure. Just assign a different name for each and add different passwords for each. Also make sure that IP addresses are only being assigned by 1 unit, probably best to use the first unit in-line.

One problem you might hit (at least, I did with a similar configuration) is that if you're using torrents you may find that you are uncontactable.

Just put the 2nd one in AP-Mode (Access Point), make it DHCP-forwarder, use a different channel, maybe a different name. You can use the same password for your convenience, Put the AP in the same network (IP range, i.e. your main router is 192.168.1.1, the second one 192.168.1.2).

Or get help. Be sure your help knows what he does :-) There is NO problem with torrents etc.

Or you could buy a Dual band router and use the 5Ghz band for yourself and the 2.5Ghz for the rest.
