The compromise inside

how many times I have parked my car on Chaweng and how many times someone from a shop or restaurant came to me asking to move the car. And how many times I thought, public street > public parkings, in the distant past. Now, I just walk there and move it, my car, without any bad feelings, almost automatically, not on the spot to let them know my opinion, and also not too late to let the situation badly escalate.

Any opinions anyone ?

I park in Tops & get a stamp I think good for a few hours ..

otherwise park in the street if you can find a space between the Taxis ! never been asked to move..

that's no the point here. I parked at Tops countless times, it's free for 1 hour and the second to be stamped at Tops. I know the places to park on Chaweng without a hassle very well. The mater here is another.

Chaweng is permanently congested now. Mainly caused by all those taxis.

Still, there maybe plenty of parking next year when Central opens.

Just stay out of Chawang! ...Just as I generally do! Hard enough to even park a bike there, that alone a car!

In Chaweng, I usually park on the road by the lake opposite Camp Beer (sort of). Next to McDonalds. Walk through Maccers and there you are. For further south I park near Chaweng printing and for further north there is a parking area near Soi Green Mango (approached from the lake road).

Angthong's views are worth considering if you want to park next to your destination. "Few things in life are worth arguing over - parking space hardly qualifies."

But now and again I throw a wobbly and do the "Look - road tax. Look road. I can park here. Two minutes OK?" Check for nails under the tyres afterwards though!

If i park outside a place and a thai owner comes out and asks me to move i just go and move...................easier to do than have a stand up fight and not know where it might lead.

There is always the chance if you leave your vehicle parked they might key it and you won't see the damage till you get home. There are still some nice shop owner's but starting to get few and far. I have some sympathy for them when you see the rat bag tourist's they have to put up with.

I also have some sympathy for the poor delivery drivers that cannot easily gain access to deliver to the shop. So they park in the street and block the traffic.

However, I have no sympathy for the stuck up resort owners/managers who 'cone' the area near the hotel/resort so that their taxi friends can more easily rip off the VIP's.

Because a number of locals have an extremely unpleasant trait in them whereby they wait till you walk away from your car then go and key every panel. Shame because with most reasonable people a simple note on the windscreen would be enough to avoid parking there again.

i just park there and lock it up ,mind you my jeeps old and if they burn it then i will get the insurance

if they let your tyres down then the car will be there longer

i counted over 100 taxis along chaweng the other day and that was in the morning

so i do feel for the shop owners that loose customers daily because of these lazy rip off gits

time to get them out of chaweng
