CAPO: Negotiations held between two sides to find truce

BANGKOK, 14 December 2013 (NNT) - The Centre for the Administration of Peace and Order (CAPO) has stated that political tension in the capital has eased after core protest leaders entered talks with security agencies.

CAPO spokesperson Pol Major-General Piya Uthayo said negotiations have been held between anti-government protesters and authorities in a bid to find a way out of the political impasse.

He noted that despite a lift in political mood, a number of demonstrators continued to step up their rallies by assaulting police officers, cutting power to state buildings and obstructing police operations.

Pol Maj-Gen Piya confirmed that whether there will be a truce or not, police will issue arrest warrants for protesters who resorted to violence. Recently police have apprehended suspects found in possession of ping pong bombs, metal balls and other weapons prior to their planned attacks near Makhawan Rangsan Bridge.

The spokesman said more police officers are being deployed to ensure peace and order near the Government House and other rally sites.

Yep, that's why many red shirts were arrested and jailed. Not sure any PAD (some were convicted for violence but got bail soon after, not sure if any of them actually did time) or certainly any of the current bunch have spent any significant time in jail yet...

The police should have done their job BEFORE the redshirt protests escalated to a point where the military HAD to intervene. The police supported the red shirts then and they also support them now.

When 'their own' red shirts were killing soldiers and innocent people they stood by and let this lawlessness continue unabated.

Why? because Thaksin's police force were ordered not to interfere and stop their murderous actions.

As soon as protesters turn out in big numbers to turf out a corrupt, incompetent and undemocratic government the police tear gas them and want to arrest them if they blow whistles.

Thaksin's police force mates should start to do their jobs to maintain the safety and security of ALL OF THE PEOPLE in Thailand and not just those that support a dictator government with a criminal at the head of it!!

Thai warrants for arrest are not taken seriously if the subject is capable of evading the police as in the case of hit and run cop killing.

Can't help wondering if the head of CAPO, Thaksin's uncle Surapong has been watching world news this week. The Shin clan's idols, the Korean Kims have been doing some exercises in loyalty with the sudden execution of young Kim's uncle. How would he choose to go? Obliterated by mortar, or executed by firing squad? Definitely a tough choice, I would expect the level of grovelling and brown nosing to increase in exponential increments in the PTP upper echelon family elite, just in case dear leader gets any ideas.
