Hello Guys/Girls.

Just after some advice...

I have now been in a relationship with a girl from Sakon Nakhon for the last six months.

She is 23, just achieved a first class teaching degree, a virgin (however we've been as close to break that as she's ever been), has a family of good standing, (mother and father are both teachers, very well respected and very very traditional) and of course very beautiful.

Here is my problem/situation.

In April my contract terminates in my current job. I am hoping to return to England for a couple of months before returning and settling down with my girlfriend or hopefully achieving the PGCE Certificate in my home country.

Of course i see my future with her, and would like to give her the best future i can. (soppy i know). As she finishes University in March (with the already achieved first class degree in teaching) i would like her to come to England with me and show my family/friends the girl they have heard so much about. Also with her teaching English it would do her future prospects the world of good. If we were to settle down (live together etc etc) we would also need to engage to.

Ok so the problem...If she does come to England...we need to Engage first.

Looking at similar articles i know that engagement is very rare in Thailand indeed, however i am in total trust of my girlfriend and understand that her mother and father are very old traditionalists. She understands that coming to England are of the best interest for her, however is unwilling to upset her mum and dad to do so. I am open to the possibility of getting engaged, it doesn't scare me, however the price tag of getting engaged may well do.

I would also like to ask if anybody has been in a similar situation to myself and if not if could anyone give me any advice.

Although i trust my girlfriend 100% but I have only been in Thailand the best part of a year and don't understand the negotiating process or how to respond to getting engaged.

Many Many thanks for any advise as i know these topics can frustrate you guys...
