fine for working without workpermit

Featured Replies

Just one point.

You must NOT work until your work permit is issued.

Do NOT 'start work' until your work permit is issued.

Regardless of any fine - you WILL be put in jail, WILL go to Court, WILL then be fined and then you WILL be deported.

There are no maybes about that.

We'll... Maybe.

If you tell and school that has offered you a job that you won't be lifting a finger until your work permit is in hand, you'll never be employed in Thailand. They'll drop you and hire another teacher who is willing to start work immediately, while their work permit is in process.

I worked with full knowledge of the relevant department before having a work permit. Indeed they wanted to see photos of me doing my job before granting one... Maybe my work permit was under consideration or something - can't remember now.

The photos was for your extension of stay after you got your work permit. Photos are not needed for a work permit application.

What a person does is up to them.

All we can do is give advise based upon our knowledge of the rules.

There have been reports of schools dragging out the work permit application and visa paperwork for an extended period of time.

Also of people that have been reported for working without a work permit while in a limbo state waiting for the paperwork to be done.

You're right, I remember now - it wasn't photos - rather the lady asked me a couple of questions that were clearly designed to see if I was familiar with my working environment or not.

When I first came to work in Thailand nearly 13 years ago I worked for a while as the WP was under consideration, and before people start jumping up and down......Rayong DOL themselves said it was ok while under consideration, as it was a question I asked them directly so this didn't come from someone in the company
