Why is it that Thai people only "lose face" after they get caught stealing or lying - and are being confronted with what they did?

Why do they not "lose face" when preforming the act itself?

Question 1) Thai murders, thiefs, and rapists are all bad. < Do you agree? ....um, yes!

Question 2) Now take the afore mentioned and give him 500 million baht and he's an upstanding Hi-So Thai. Correct?

The glove didn't fit. I saw it on court TV.

Familys in Thailand have most of their money parked in offshore tax havens just like thaksin and have been buying up high end property abroad in city's such as London.......In the west we call such things tax dodging.

Whats the obsession with how much things cost, as soon as they ( family or friends etc) see you have something new or different the first words are "how much" ?, no matter where or what.

I think I can answer that one Charlie, If Ms Thaiblether doesn't mind. Thais are not being rude as some of us seem to think, it is just their way of being nice to you and starting a conversation. same as they ask you your age, or how much your salary is.

Can you ask the Thai person in charge of mains water round here to turn it back on please?

We haven't had mains water now for a week and before that only about 40 litres a day.

If they need a new reservoir round here I can drive plant including excavators, dumpers, dozers and rollers and I can also do the design calculations, surveying, AutoCAD drawings and the drainage and the pipework design and specification and the pumping station construction . . . if they need a hand.

Why do Thai's constantly throw their garbage in the streets?

Why do Thai's always defend other Thai's even knowing the other Thai is in the wrong?

Why do Thai's put prices up just because we are "Falang?"

Why do I pay tax but have no rights?

And what happened to the Red Bull drunk driver and cop-killer? Did anyone remember to do a follow up? or has it already been forgotten to avoid the possibility of someone "losing face"?

Does there exist serious drama TV-shows, where the actors act like NORMAL adult people and not like spoiled kids, constantly hitting and shouting at each other?

The Thai Forest Tradition emphasizes direct experience through meditation practice and strict adherence to monastic rules (vinaya) over scholastic Pali Tipitaka study. Forest monks are considered to be meditation specialists. The Forest Tradition is usually associated with certain supernatural attainments (abhiñña). It is widely known among Thai people for its orthodoxy, conservatism, and asceticism. Because of these qualities, it has garnered great respect and admiration from the Thai people.

Some Thais don't watch TV. I think some Thais don't think serious TV drama is serious enough. wai2.gif
