Looking for the spice: Saffron

Has anyone see saffron for sale? I am going home in a couple of months and my brother asked if I could bring some back for his cooking.

Thanks in advance...

It is no cheaper here than Europe. Friendship had/has small glass vials of it , in the locked cabinets in front of the tills where expensive items are stored.

Loads of tourists buy those big bags of what they think is saffron in the markets, and from stalls on Beach Road.

Its actually Safflower, or Bastard Saffron.

All the colour, but none of the flavour.

What originally looked a bargain is really not.

I think that I saw some at the Gourmet Market in the basement of Festival Mall. As others have said, real saffron is really expensive (read costs an arm and a leg). The lesser mortals will use turmeric which gives you the golden color but not the taste you might be looking for.
