Suvarnabhumi Tourist Police Catch In-Flight Theft Suspect
Picture courtesy: Siam Rath Tourist police successfully apprehended a suspect involved in stealing passengers' belongings during flights. The arrest followed extensive surveillance over the course of a year. The investigation began in 2024 when multiple victims, both Thai nationals and foreigners, reported thefts while onboard various flights. The stolen items included cash and other valuables. Lieutenant Colonel Seksan Tiraruengrat was tasked with leading an investigative team focusing on suspicious activities linked to in-flight thefts. On 24th December 2024, a significant incident was reported. A passenger flying from Macau to Suvarnabhumi noticed that cash amounting to HKD 45,000 and 20,000 Thai baht went missing from his overhead cabin baggage. Through detailed investigation and evidence collection, the police identified a suspect. A warrant was issued by the Samut Prakan Provincial Court on 26th December 2024 for the arrest on charges of "theft on public transportation at night." Picture courtesy: Siam Rath Acting on this, the police apprehended a 45-year-old Chinese man at Don Mueang Airport, who matched the warrant's description. He was detained and admitted to being the individual recognised in the warrant, without previous arrests for this specific case. The suspect was handed over to the Suvarnabhumi Airport Police Station for further legal proceedings. The Tourism Police urge the public and tourists to report any suspicious activities to the 1155 hotline or at their nearest local tourism police station, assuring their round-the-clock service, reported Siam Rath. -- 2024-12-28 -
