The result: a ban on vehicles with 10 wheels or more or buses using the main Phuket route across Patong Hill between 6am-9am and 4pm-7pm.

wow... with a little more thought ban all other vehicles 7pm to 6am and 9am to 4pm. the problem could have been completley solved.

i think there is room at MIT

That restriction has been in place on the Kata - Chalong Patak Rd for a few years. Even have the road signs. Completely ignored as no one enforces the rule.

For over 10 years that restriction has been in place.

Again. With the police' attitude, why do they bother making these new laws? Waste of time and public money. Not saying the idea is a bad one. Just saying it won't be enforced...coffee1.gif

Allow me to play the cynic, but, IF the police were ordered to enforce this law, would that not be a great way of getting all these package holiday makers out of their coach buses and into minivans and taxis - and we all know who profits from them????

There will be new taxi and tuk tuk stands at the bottom of both hills. All the buses will drop off all the new victims to the local taxi mafia for safe travels.
