90 day Border Run from Phattalung (South Thailand) ?

Featured Replies

Attending a wedding near to Phattalung soon won't be there very long, but its around the same time my 90 day border run is due.

How quick/easy/cheap is a run to the Malaysian border from this area using public transport? I guess via Hat Yai , or better to wait until back to Phuket and do the usual trip to Ranong?

Thanks.

cheap and easy, just hop a local bus or rent a car for the day.

Yes via Hat Yai

Its only about a 2 hour drive to the border.

80 baht to Hat Yai in the minibus. Make sure you stay on-board until you get to the main bus station. The first place it stops is the minibus station so don't get off there or you'll have to get a tuk-tuk across town.

Your choice is either Dannok or Padang Besar. It's the same distance to both but Pedang Besar is far less crowded. The bus or minibus will drop you off outside immigration and the bus stop for the buses back to Hat Yai are opposite immigration. The minibuses leave from a place in town, it's a five minute walk or a two minute motorbike journey.

Walking to the Malay side and back isn't much fun so I suggest a motorcycle taxi for 60 baht or 100 baht if they take you to the minibus place.

You can catch the minibus back to Phatthalung from the main bus station as well.
