Sheffield United knock Villa out of the FA Cup

T'was a great game, a total turn around from the offerings being dealt up by the Blades at the beginning of the season under manager David Weir.

This takes Nigel Clough's run to one defeat from the last 10 games. The Blades were the better team on the field and deserved to win this game.

The crowd United took to Villa was about 6000. Just need to produce a performance like that every game in the League and the club can forget about worrying about relegation.

Nice One..

...........and now Fulham also............

Sheff Utd have lost the last 4 of their league games. Perhaps every game should be a cup game?

Well done blades, maybe a good rendition of your anthem the greasy chip butty song, one of the best in the league imho.

Nottingham Forest in the next round, as they are not in the Premiership , the score line will probably be against the Blades. But we live in hope (about all we have).

Extorted? You should have been relegated AND docked points for fiddling.

Too right.

But that's all water under bridge now , well at least for most.smile.png

But not for the victims of the extortion... But at least they are still in the Premier League!

We were gutted when we saw we would have played Sheffield Utd had we got past Forest!

What happened to my mate Colin (Happy Hammer)?

Colin, don't know him.. It's our nickname for Neil Warnock and I thought you meant him for a sec.

What can I say, thanks for the cash but it was like trying to get blood from a stone. Didn't get us far anyway. Would have been better to stay up, but just couldn't beat Wigan in the last game.

Never Mind - sure the clubs will clash again in the not too distant future - in the Championship.

Blood out of a stone because it wasn't awarded or owed. You only got it at all because the owners were bankrupt and trying to sell and the persistent litigation was deterring buyers.

All water under the bridge now mate.

Sheff Utd are knocking on the door of the lowest division at the moment, the money from WH was spent in a wild manner on high wages for players such as James Beattie, by then manager and git, Bryan Robson (who built the new team then proceeded to slag them off when it didn't work). As well as into the pocket of the Chairman (100% owner at the time).

WH were ultimately the winners in the whole affair by staying up - did beat Man U at Old Trafford - while Sheff Utd failed to beat Wigan at home (must say that that night of football was the most intense I have ever experienced).

Half of Sheff Utd is now owned by a Saudi Prince (funny old game), so while things are far from rosy the future looks bright for the Blades.

Notts Forrest in the round of 16 in the FA cup - doubt Utd will win that one though.

Until then, its Shrewsbury today facepalm.gif

Sheff Utd's unrealistic run in the FA Cup continues, seeing of Forrest 3-1.

Watched a great game (streamed on Wiziwig) a bit of a local derby, but if Wednesday overcome Charlton, there will be a local derby at Bramall Lane "in the FA Cup"!

According to the BBC, the Blades are the lowest sitting league club to reach the 1/4 finals since 1990.

BRING ON THE OWLS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Not the Owls sadly.

Charlton will come to Bramall Lane on March 8th after a controversial win at Hillsborough.

Shame really, never mind.

United have every chance of a win against Charlton, we will see.

It just gets better.

The Blades now through to the semi finals at Wembley after seeing off Charlton 2-0, who would have thought that?

Will play Hull.

Yorkshire day out at Wembley. Good job the rail lines out of Hull to London (East Coast mainline) and out of Sheffield (old London Midland route) don't ever meet!

Oh yes - my ole man was a trainspotter!

OK, will probably lose to Hull.

Yes, will probably lose to Hull, but you never know. I was expecting to lose away at Villa.

Great achievment for this team to actually get to a semi final at Wembley, so if they do lose, there are no losers (if you know what I mean).

To think about a month ago the club were in the relegation zone in the 1st division, they are now half way up the table.

It will be a great Yorkshire day out on the 12th. If they do manage to get past Hull, which I don't expect will happen, I will try to get a ticket and fly over for the final.
