Ok so this is probably basic but i just dont know how to space and align some text boxes. If someone has the time to direct me it would be most appreciated. Basically i increased the font size but the boxes are to close which cuts part of the text out. I have a screenshot. I want to resize formatted billing address to accommodate a larger font. Thus needing to enlarge the box and realign them...

Just grab one of the handles highlighted and pull it in the direction you want increased ( the handles are the eight deep blue squares)

Thats easy but i need all 5 boxes increased equally without overlapping each other.

Put all five of the template text lines in one box, delete the other four boxes.

I could possibly do that but will the populate correctly from the master program? I assumed when this template was created they separated them for a reason.

I assume they just used the insert command to create floating fields because they didn't really understand how it really works.

Try placing them all in one text box, then run a print preview against the database. This will show you what it looks like.

Otherwise, keep them as is, and since they are floating text boxes, just size them as needed and move them into the position you want.

edit: The only reason to keep them in separate boxes is to keep static position. If two items are blank, item 4 still prints on the forth line.

Address1 Address1
Address2
Address3

Address4 Address4

If they are all in the same textbox, with and Address 2 and Address 3 fields contain no data (blank), they will print as

Address1

Address4

<blank space>
<blank space>

Use the mouse and select all the boxes. Then right click and select Grouping > Group. Then select a handle and drag and it will resize all of them equally.

Putting them all in one box does not separate the info and they are numbered correctly

The result

31/12 Moo 3

31/12 Moo 3

31/12 Moo 3

31/12 Moo 3

with the new format

«FormattedBillingAddress1»

«FormattedBillingAddress2»

«FormattedBillingAddress3»

No such thing as grouping in the drop down menu?

What version of Word are you using? I'm using Office 2007 and it is there. If an older version than go to the help and look for grouping. You can see where I had grouped the boxes and the dragging/resizing outline.

That shouldn't happen. The fields should contain unique data (unless all the fields ARE populated with the same data)

To get a correct preview, use Mailings, Start MailMerge, Preview Results.

Pretty sure that Tywais meant for you to keep the previous floating text boxes, selecting them, not the Merge Fields.

Tried it both ways :/(

Just created a test database for your template and the preview displayed correctly, that is once I used the correct Matching Fields to the database I created.

Tywais: Don't you have to hold down the CTRL key when you select more than one box? PS. It's a good thing he's using Office 2010! 2013 is a nightmare.

Forgot that option. Yes, you can hold the CTRL key down and select each element. The other way, and the one I usually use for multiple selection, is to hold down the left mouse button and lasso all the elements you wish to select.
