Thai army chief mum regarding possible coup

webfact

Recommended Posts

I have never heard of a coup being announced before it took place. The military has not tipped its hands on this one. They appear to be fence-sitting but they have their own agenda - as they have had for many decades now.

"They appear to be fence-sitting............."

That's why they are in charge of de fence.

Prayuth says govt must be held responsible if violence breaks out

BANGKOK: -- Army Commander-in-Chief Gen Prayuth Chan-ocha said the government would be held responsible if violence happens during the Bangkok Shutdown rally on Monday.

He said the government would be required to take responsibility by the principle if the people clash or kill each other or riote.

He said he hopes that there would be no violence and anyone who causes violence, he or she must be held responsible.

I just hope that they never want to be taken seriously.

Mostly because it couldn't be called a coup ("the sudden violent overthrow of a government and seizure of political power, especially by the military").

If they announce a coup, it then becomes an exercise in "futility", or simply the eve of destruction. Check it out:

"government would be required to take responsibility by the principle if the people clash or kill each other or riote"

then

"government would be required to take responsibility by the principle if the people clash or kill each other or riote"

ergo

Everyone will be responsible! LOL

On a side not it's nice how such similar statements weren't issued back in 2010. But not too much of a surprise.

Totally irresponsible words, from Army leader that clearly shows again he took a side already.

If we rely on history, the coup will come from other area's of the military, not the Army chief, commanders that have been talking to each other, not to the press, as stated, no news will be announced of a coup until it happens, which it might depending on circumstances, within the next two months, coffee1.gif

He said “rumor is just a rumor, so don’t worry about the thing that isn’t coming or not seen yet. Everything that exists must have a cause and we will have to find out. If there isn’t a cause, it does not exist. It is like a cow. If the cow has no wound on its back, the crow will not hold on its back and bite it.”

---Gen. P.C-O

Pronouncements such as this, I meant to write.

It sounds like Yingluck has been fired from her role as the Minister of Defence.

Delegation empowers a subordinate to make decisions, i.e. it is a shift of decision-making authority from one organizational level to a lower one.

Mum can mean quiet or mother... mother here could be extrapolated to mean... I'll remain mum on that.

In case nobody has done so already: thanks for the explanation.

My English is not that bad, but this "mum" left me a bit confused. .-)

When the country doesn't have enough money to pay the farmers, they have a very serious problem. Something very dramatic has to be changed, and it's difficult to see how the current crop of politicians would be able to do that. Too much money have been squandered, the politicians have had their go and they failed. Sad but true.

Money? Maybe LOS can borrow US printing presses.

If Suthep doesn't destroy BKK, it will sink underwater soon enough, anyway, or become a casualty of global warming, bird flu, or any of 1000 other dangers. No loss.

Jatuporn thinks he is invincible and will pay it no mind what so ever. Has he ever paid for his actions in 2010? No so why should he worry now the government that protected him then is still the government today.

Looks like General Prayuth has officially made his stance. Looks like it's bye bye to this government in a few days.

If he carries out that stance the Nation will benefit.

If the red shirts who are PTP cause trouble they will be stopped and finally broken. As is they are having trouble staying together.

If the government holds back their dogs of war I see no problem as the police are basically useless. There are of course good ones but they are far out weighted by the tea money takers.

The anti government protestors have been continuously calling for a peaceful protest and I doubt very much they will risk loosing every thing they have gained by getting violent. I am very very sure Suthep will be stressing non violence. He has come to far to throw it all away now.wai.gif

I see the peaceful take over of the buildings. I just hope they don't destroy them like the yellow shirts did in the government house occupation.

Bottom line is Suthep must do every thing in his power to stop violence from his side. I think he will.

I guess the negotiations are underway, the Army was paid 1.5 Billion to stage the last coup; need to take inflation into account how many people that will need to disappear again, how long its going to take to (rewrite) woops I mean amend the constitution again, how many Generals will need to be paid off again, 3 Billion should just about do it!
