Our organization requires somebody to come to Thailand for a month to carry out a mid-term internal evaluation of one of our projects. The person also needs to go at least once to Myanmar and come back, so needs multiple-entries. What type of visa is required? Also, do we need to get this person a work permit?

A non-B visa with work permit would be required. Not necessary to get a multiple, as a re-entry permit can be used to travel to Cambodia and back.

Thanks Mario. Our Admin went to MoL to ask for further advice. We were told the process to approve the WP would take around 3 months and before the WP is issued, the person would need to undergo an interview with internal security/police. They suggested we get a tourist visa. This sounds quite incredible.

In some parts getting a WP can indeed take a long time. # months seems excessive, so does the police interview.

Check if the company would fall under the BOI regulations and can use the one stop service office at Chamsuree square, that would speed things up.

The toruist visa would mean working without a work permit, a criminal offense.

How long will this project evaluation last? If it takes no longer than 15 days, the Department of Employment may agree to issue a Necessary and Urgent Work Acknowledgment. See here for details: http://www.thaivisa.com/forum/topic/109498-visas-for-professional-golfers/#entry1180394

I think some in your admin is telling you something which not correct. ie the internal security interview bit, this not required for a WP, further if its decent size company with the right connections a full WP can be had in a 1 to 2 week time frame

As has been suggested, if the we work is less than 14 days a temporary work permit is the solution issued typically within 24 hours

Mario clarification for myself = police interview ? New requirement ? Know for teachers they want a police clearance certificate, but never hear of police interview bit for all occupations getting a wp
