Big Bike rental in Pattaya?

So i've lived in Pattaya for almost six months and i'm looking to rent a big bike, 1000cc+.

Where are the best places to rent, to avoid the ever present scams etc.? Do any of the have any experience renting big bikes? And are there any certain things i should/shouldn't do and should look out for? Minus the obvious, like crashing

I am below 20 yo but have a Thai bike license and experience on big bikes, just want to explore some options and try something new, different.

Or, do yourself a favor and rent a Scoopie. If you're 20, you'll have no trouble getting hotties to ride around with you, and with the Scoopie, you can let them ride you around also, which is pretty nice as well.

There was a place hiring out BMW 650's (I wanted to do a road tour and I own one back in Aus), but I think they were based up north. Too bloody expensive to tour with a group though, so I see why you'd want to hire one un-escorted.

I assume you've googled and can't find anyone?

So yes, considering that it's probably one of the fastest, scariest big bikes you can get, second to only an 1199R, i think thats just enough experience to be able to handle a slower, 1000cc bike.

Mogandave, as i mentioned above i have a Ducati and its like a dream, and although yes i usually have no trouble gathering up the hotties, its sort of hard with my Duc being a one seater /: So it'll be a nice temporary change to take one along haha.

No such thing as a one seater...

Well, sadly my bike is indeed a one seater, would be able to fit a passenger if i was to lift someone onto where the seat would be, which i would do if there were passenger foot pegs and if the paint where they'd sit didn't scratch with a simple touch of clothing. A huge pain..

Cheaper to change your seat really however a "big bike" could mean many things eg: Harley, chopper, rice rocket etc. etc. etc.

So what is it you want? Beach road has every kind of big bike to rent.

Also on Theppriset rd half way down on the left there is VP Motorcycle who sells and rents "big bikes".

Not really many "scams" as such but make sure they do a overall checklist for you on the contract. Thats what many have on their rental agreements. It points out scratches and other injuries the bike has and you get a copy of it too. Also helps to take pictures while you are renting it so they Know you are aware.

I used to rent from him on a regular basis, no hassle, no scams, etc. I too owned a single seater Ducati (996) which is of no use when you want a pillion.

I was looking to rent a sport bike, i love the looks of Harleys and choppers etc. but they're not really for me. I simply brought up scams and such after reading on different forums, some places attempt to make you pay for minor tire wear and similar things of the sort, apparently.

I agree about the second seat, an absolute pain when you want/need to carry a passenger.

I thank you for the warning, i do see myself as a safe rider, although i admit im guilty of opening the throttle some when i hit a fairly empty road sometimes.

As do i, except i've never seen them, or anyone doing it on a 1198cc Ducati, and i don't think i ever will. The last thing you want on a Duc is scratches from where people have been struggling to climb on and off..

Try Mr Deen's on Beach Road and Soi 8 they got what your looking for, I drink in the bars there and have never seen a problem when people return there bikes.

A few friends and I are looking to rent some mid size bikes in Pattaya as we are looking to buy, so this would be an extended test drive of sorts. If we each take a different model we can swap to get a good feel for the bikes.

Other than Mr Dean (who I will contact nearer the time) I was wondering if anyone has any recommendations or even companies they'd avoid like the plague.

Wanting to rent a big bike? Got insurance?

If a tourist, most travel insurance won't cover you unless under 200cc and you have a licence valid in Thailand.

No insurance and have an accident= big bills. Cost me over 70,000 baht for a simple hand fracture and two damaged bikes. Waiting on the insurance company now ( they won't cover the damage to the bikes ).

No, I'm not a tourist. I live and work here in Thailand, however that doesn't exempt you from some of the scams dodgy companies try and pull. I have comprehensive medical insurance and a Thai car and bike licence. I've been riding bikes here in Thailand for about 7 years, so I'm well aware of the risks. I'm defiantly not looking to scream up and down beach road like an idiot! On fact I'd be getting well out of Pattaya as soon as possible! I just want to take a few bikes out on an extended test drive.

If anyone knows of any companies they would be happy to recommend, I'd be grateful. Thanks =)

not being critical in any way mate but I'm just concerned that your experience on large bikes has you thinking there is a huge difference between 1199RR and a slower(your words) 1000cc machine - I can tell you that is a very misguided way of thinking, there are 900cc motorbikes on the roads that can do in excess of 170 mph - they are all classed as Superbikes and all require the same level of skill and experience to ride safe on public roads, in fact some of the newer models of "Superbikes" could be described as easier and safer considering all the driving aids included these days - and yes I've been riding large displacement motorbikes all my life (I have on occasion been a Road Marshall at the TT

2 friends rented big Honda bikes for One week in Pattaya, Beach Road. When they dripped the bikes, the man who run the shop didn't give the guarantee back, for the two bikes (8000 THB) as he pretend that a plastic cover was missing on one of the bikes... The black one... Looks like this story happens often, as the neighbour, who also run a rent a bike shop, ask to my friends , laughing, "problems with the bikes? With the black one?

if you want to rent a bike from this guy, do not forget to take photos from the bike, or you will loose the guarantee......
