sundrenched Posted January 14, 2014 Posted January 14, 2014 FIrst, "best" is suspect because it's not like they made 1,000 people visit all cities in the world, and then took their votes. It's "best" weighted by the frequency of visits. I'm assuming people can only vote for cities they have already visited, so such a poll is inherently biased towards cities that are already popular tourist destinations. Maybe some of these people might prefer Tokyo, except they'll never go there and therefore never vote for it. THere's also a huge difference visiting for a week vs living here full time. It's exotic, exhilirating, yet you have all the Western conveniences, at an affordable price. Maybe Bangkok is no longer the bargain it once was, but for 3,000 Baht a day you can live in luxury. Try that in London or Tokyo. So I can see why people have a great time.
