francescoassisi
Another interesting take........ http://www.project-syndicate.org/commentary/yuriko-koike-criticizes-democratic-countries--indifference-to-the-threat-posed-by-the-thai-opposition-s-strategy-of-protest I have 2 main criticisms of the OP article. Firstly I think it over-estimates the role of Buddhism in politics. I think self interest especially of the old guard ruling elite is way more important. Secondly I think that although one would largely concur with the assessment of the Thaksin family and that side oif the coin, I think it grossly underestimates the negative aspects of the opposition. To me it looks very much like a case of out of the rather warm frying pan into a VERY hot fire. I think the effects of an unelected government on Thailand both home and abroad will be dire. .....both in terms of the economy and civil rights....not forgetting the role of the west, Korea and Japan.
