People at Ban Kujigreupa in Narathiwat pledge protection for teachers

Villagers of Ban Kujingreupa (กูจิงรือปะ) in Narathiwat’s Ra Ngae (ระแงะ) district pledge full protection for teachers.

Two teachers of Ban Kujingreupa School were kidnapped and beaten by some local villagers 2 weeks ago. One of them was seriously injured and is still in critical condition at a Songkhla hospital.

Pairat Saengthong (ไพรัช แสงทอง), director of Narathiwat Education Office Region 1, said villagers now wanted the school re-opened and promised they would help ensure safety for teachers.

The school has been closed since the two teachers were attacked. All its teachers also asked for the transfer.

Mr. Pairat said the school would be re-opened on June 5. Twelve people have applied to teach at the school, he added.
