English victim of an attempted necklace snatch in South Pattaya.

Mr. Kevin Din aged 51 from London came to Pattaya Police Station on Thursday Night to report an attempted necklace snatch which had just taken place inside Soi Honey Inn, South Pattaya. Police volunteers were already in pursuit of a suspect as Mr. Din was making his Police report.

Luckily, Mr. Din managed to prevent the theft even though his 11-Baht weighted gold chain worth more than 110,000 Baht :o was damaged during the attempted theft. Moments later, Police brought in a suspect who was detained at a Builders Camp site in Naklua. As he was being transported to the Police Station, he claimed that he ran from Police, not because he committed a theft, but because he was an illegal Cambodian national and did not possess a passport or visa.

Mr. Din was asked to identify the thief, however this was not possible because of the poor lighting at the location of the crime. For now this crime remains unsolved and Mr. Din will have to cover the cost of repairing his gold chain.

What a bloody fool.

No one deserves to be robbed but by displaying such a thick gold chain he provides an enormous temptation to thieves, a temptation that one guy couldn't resist.

Oh...I just noticed that he is English..... :o

I'll say no more. :D

some people are just too stupid for their own good.

He's wearing a chain that's worth 110,000 baht even when sold back to the shop.

The thai or khmer is working his nads off for 200 baht a day.

that's 550 days wages. :o

a labourer in the UK would easily be on 70 quid a day.

70 X 550 = 38,500 pounds. :D

If i was desperate and i saw this idiot walking down the street , would i be tempted to grab it? :D

Wise up people, leave the bling at home :D

No kidding. I've heard of people having their 1 baht necklaces snatched. An 11 baht necklace ?!?!?

Why not hang a sign around your neck, written in Thai, "Please Rob Me".

Oh wait, he already did that. Think he'll learn a lesson ?

Still got your knickers in a twist then, must be a hangover from the transportations way back.

Well the good thing is that the thief did not get away with the chain. Repairs will be a minimal cost.

What a shame that the victim could not identify the would be thief....but full marks to him for not making a guess and laying the blame on the Cambodian guy.

I am sure that Mr. Din will have learned from this nasty experience....an experience that could happen in any city in any country.

:D:D

Ah yes, those transportations...thousands of criminals sent to the colonies to populate and flourish.

...and flourish we did. :D

So much so that we Australians, being the offspring of pickpockets, con men, robbers and thieves, have now learned from the mistakes made by our forebearers, the deported former inhabitants of good old mother England.

We now are wise about keeping our possessions safe from the thieving hands of the criminally minded.

Whilst we learned, those who remained in England, the honest, law abiding citizens, learned nothing....and they had children and passed on know nothing advice to their offspring....hence the know nothing dim wit fool who walks around Pattaya with an enormous solid gold chain around his neck. :o

Bruprince, by any odd chance are you a descendant of English parents? :D:D:D

Many years ago I used to wear a 5 troy ounce chain and a bracelet to match....seemed to be a fashion symbol then.

To-day I prefer to wear one or sometimes two nice large rings.

Most of the guys wearing large chains in Patters are wearing the fakes which can be picked up quite cheaply......but even then they are risking being held up or attacked......best for safety reasons not to wear anything around the neck whilst out and about. :o

I saw a guy in Bangkok get robbed. He was in Soi Cowboy and he was flashing a huge roll of money. He came out of a bar, got knocked down and his money was stolen. Who did the dastardly deed? A FARANG! Everyone was pretty shocked and no one even chased the farang thief. A little judgement goes a long ways.

Yes Gary it`s better to be conservative especially where cash and large necklaces are concerned. A little forethought and self discipline is what`s needed.

TIT. A person's worth and success appears to be based on bling & flossing. In the USA, unless you're some rapper or sportstar, Most millionaire$ that I know wear nothing more than their college ring and a nice watch. I keep my $ in the bank, stocks, and RE, earning more $ for me rather than wearing it for show.

Good common sense Dragonmode....although many people will be taking advantage of the recently rising gold price and will be cashing in on gold purchased a few years ago. :o
