Is there a nasty flu virus going around in pattaya?

Featured Replies

On the Thailand live website today it has a heading “Influenza and diarrhea not found among protesters “ .

And then earlier on I was talking to someone in Pattaya who said they were looking after a family member who had fever and diarrhea . Does anyone know if there some kind of virus going around which we should be aware of?

Why would anyone think there is any virus going around? At any given time, some Pattaya tourists or residents have diarrhea from eating street food--and may call it influenza as well. There even may be a case or two of real influenza. :)

Just another attempt to create a baseless rumor and stir the pot.

Been one for months...I had it about month and a half ago...took almost 3 weeks to shake it.

yes i was there the other dayz but i've left now

I have had the runs for a few days & a fever as well, not much fun.

for god sake what is your attitude problem ? huh.png

Firstly, why are you attacking me for asking a simple question and possibly even alerting people that there could be a chance of this happening?

And based on the comments already written by OMGImInPattaya and ROBINPATTAYA you already seem to be wrong as you so often are regarding anything you post on ?rolleyes.gif

My comment includes those two. :) I'm usually right.

Your thread is too negative for "J Sixpack", and he thinks it is thai bashing

There are always viruses running around especially in Pattaya.

It hasn't rained for awhile so it is probably worse that usual.

DUH. That topic refers to the whole of Thailand, not just Pattaya.

Yeah, in the whole country, you can at any given time easily find a few more cases of influenza, and of course many of diarrhea, the latter a constant in Thailand, esp. among the stupid farangs. Sorry, means nothing.

So even in the Health forum you've similarly failed to create an artificial panic, sorry.

all depends on who you share your fluids with

I did the mistake to visit Pattaya Memorial Hospital today for some blood tests , I am sure I will end up with a flu now , most of the people were coughing and had a running nose . And most of them Russians , they should rename the hospital to Russian Memorial Hospital .

Well.....I get a December cold in chilly Eastside Pattaya every year,

this year I'm still sniffling after 7 weeks........bah.gif

not sure if it's the thin, dry, dusty air or something going around......?

JSixpack, I normally agree with your posts, especially regarding, "Pattaya bashing" but on this one you are wrong my friend!

There has been a virus of some sort, not sure I'd call it flu (as I'm not qualified to do that), but I know dozens, probably into the 100's of expat and local friends who have been suffering (in Pattaya and elsewhere in Thailand) including myself over the past month or so with flu like symptoms.

It's probably down to weather changes (country wide), who knows, but it's definatley there! After 12 years here I know it's not down to something I've eaten.

Sorry OP that I can't give you an exact reason / explanation, but there is a virus / bug going about.

Out here in Huay Yai, I have stuffed up nose & an ongoing headache.....Some of the locals have the same symptoms

at this time of year the winds pretty much come down the Chinese coast through all the big polluted cities before reaching Thailand
